Crab People

With the advent of another reskin humanoid race in the form of Moths, which brings nothing gameplay-wise and is merely a flavour reskin and fetish bait, we should seriously consider Crab People.

Crab People.

A resoult of sick genetics experiments done on Earth in the late 21th Century, they became sentient and space faring, and begun colonization of other world. While secretive, they recently came in contact with Nanotrasen station designated ASS BLAST USA 13. Seeing that humanity evolved past their petty instincts, and treats all non-human races as equals, they decide to come out of the shadows and work together, enlisting with the corporations, bad and good, for the betterment of their specie.

The goal of Crab People is to create non-humanoid race that differs a lot from what we currently have, with their own set of significant weaknesses and strengths.

Crab People would be slow, pretty slow. They would also move like mechs, turning in place then moving forward, with option to strafe. No free movement. They wouldn't be able to wear humanoid clothes, except for head gear. They would be able to use human tools and other small items, but they're not super dexterous (the action would take longer), and guns in their claws have lower rate of fire. While resilient, they would take a lot longer to heal, you have to slap more bruise packs to mend the carapace. They are also not very healthy (don't have much HP)

Crab People.

They are naturally resilient and armored. Their carapace can reflect energy beams, if you're lucky, and it can absorb brute damage outright - until it cracks and must be mended (You have less HP than humans under carapace, so keep it in good condition). The carapace is also space worthy, all you need is some oxigen. Crab People are not dexterous with claws, but are nimble with many legs, they can't be slipped or slowed, and can move freely in zero G. While they can use human tools (albeit slowly) they claws also can act as tools, they can perform surgeries (try not to screw up) and do some engineering (wrenching, crowbaring, cutting). Of course their claws are formidable weapons, dealing brute damage with ease, also enabling Crab Person to grab and hold puny humanoids better. They also can't be pushed around in non helpful intent, so when some clown is trying to toolbox running around you, position yourself in a corridor so he can't get past you, then grab him with claw and rip his guts out.

Lobsterpeople only have one hand capable of using anything so they can't dual wielder. But their lobster arm does do 15 brute damage. Also has a rare chance to grab someone as well. Lobster chaplains with no-drop weapons have no usable limbs

yeah i'm pretty on board with this one, way more interesting than moths at least

we could have a polymorph:crab spell that turns the wizard into a crab but gives him more spell points hmmm

What kind of properties would crab people have, and how would you become one? It would be interesting if it were something earned, rather than roundstart!

Well dang, forgive my lack of reading...I...get distracted easily by images...

Anyway, I like the tanky, slow moving concept. You would be right to fear them, but you could easily escape them if needed.

You could always sprite them yourself if you are making photoshops. It would basically be half the work.

serious idea for these guys:
they have 2 extra arms/hands (maybe they could be slightly easier to dismember as well)
then can only walk either left/right or up/down at any given moment. turning to walk in the other direction requires them to stand still for maybe like 5 seconds.

Crabs have only two claws, so no extra hands. But since they're Space-Crabs, they could have extra appendages serving as pockets (for holding larger items maybe). As for the movement, I wanted to have slower clumsy movement offset innate survivability and armor. Stopping for 5 seconds seems awkward, I like mech movement myself. But it's all up for the debate, we are making history here friends.

I appreciate it, but I've no skills whatsoever. It took me a week to realize I can pull sprites from github, I was taking pngs from wiki before. Then I couldn't find HoP hat so bureaucracy crab was hatless. Then I couldn't find toxin bomb, so I had to take it from other wiki of other server. I don't even have any graphics editor installed, I'm using online editor. I can't even draw a proper stick figure.

Fuck, I guess I can pay someone to do it.
