it seems silly that you can upgrade their parts but it doesnt do anything, can we make it so upgraded parts = more rp per minute?

This was repeatedly discussed, and decided that it was pointless to do that, as it just becomes a "did someone do this quick 30 second task at round start or not" and the game would just be balanced around the upgraded cost.

but think of the flavour

It would be better if upgrading the computers did other things like increase the point gain from the few other ways to gain points, but not passive generation.

Can also give it small bonuses like creating a trickle of cargo points, or other non-science-department bonuses.

I don't see a benefit in dealing with the math of earyly/basic techweb upgrades increasing techweb speed rather than just adjusting their overall time if we're not satisfied with it.
