It is metagaming, but think of it from a different perspective.

You work at a local sporting goods store, the year has been boring and uneventful as normal and then you hear there is a crazy store-eating monster that has broken in. Do you not bust open the shotgun rack and start tossing the guns to everybody on the chance that one of your co-workers is an asshole?

On the reverse, instead of a store-eating monster, you overhear from the manager. "One of our competitors has sent someone to infiltrate and assassinate one our employees, we have proof of this here and there may be more."
Thats when you don't start tossing guns at everybody.

Its more of a thing on lore, but i'm pretty sure this isn't a "Every calendar day of the space year, the station explodes in a flaming mess."

You don't. But you have no knowledge, evidence, or reason to believe there is one that exists.

What Saeg said. Every shift on SS13 isn't full of destruction and death. Most days are boring and long and full of hefty science and discovery! Or just rebuilding from the last casastrophe.

Calamitous events are rare and far between. While you don't trust the crew regularly because you know there COULD be problems, you have no reason to believe that there will be problems unless Centcomm says so, and Centcomm almost always says so when there will be a problem.

So when they say that there will be a big fuckup soon and a blob pops? You can safely assume that's what they meant.

And the idea that there MIGHT be someone who's also an asshole or licensed to murder someone on the station doesn't override the fact that there's a PEOPLE EATING GOOP slowly consuming all or an AI that was touched by the great silicon gods to free it and its brothers from captivity.

It wouldn't change anything anyways. Even on really, really long traitor rounds that a blob spawns in, people often hand out guns anyways just by virtue of being unable to do anything to combat a blob without at least three people with guns and one or two with welders.

Edit: These gamemodes are also balanced around the idea that the crew can work together in some tangible form. Removing that means you'd need to nerf blab, wizard, malf, nukeops, and all others because suddenly a one man antag show becomes a whole cast of baddies.

Basically this. Adding traitors with the specific intent to make the round worse for the crew in already dire circumstances is a functional buff to those primary antags. Wizard already gets this through spawnguns/magic/events. Do we really need a guy with an ebow/esword kiling everyone in the hallways while nukeops are raiding the station, blob is eating the station, malf AI is setting off the station nuke? I don't really see it.

"Oh boy, we've almost got that AI and then we saved the station!"
*revolvered by a spawn in traitor*

I don't see the fun in that scenario for anyone.

Without the meta, wizards and blobs will just shit on everything, yeah.

Sounds good to have more traitors. They should probably be relevant to the gamemode in regards to their objectives.

Such as "Ensure the survival of the Blob".

I'm pretty sure that last game mode that needs help from crew antags is blob. There's already enough greytiding and shitlery that happens in blob rounds already (blobernaughts aside, this has been the case for ages.)
