Make stock parts accessible outside of engineering and r&d

There's a dozen activities in R&D that necessitate walking away from the front desk. It's usually empty; if anyone needs anything, the standard reaction is to break in. Engineering is chronically uninterested in doing any actual work that requires an engineer. Tools are scarce enough to make exploitation of upgradable machines a very unlikely issue. Let other departments print stock parts for upgrading and assembling machines, please?

Just break in and print yourself a RPED and parts because if there's nobody in the office there never will be

This is from when this was attempted in July.

I was going to modify my post to seem less like I was shooting down this idea, and one of the things I was going to say was that the idea of interdepartmental cooperation is a meme as old as time and another case of how coders want players to play the game vs. reality. Anyway, I'd forgotten this had already been attempted and our favourite head ideas guy had shot it down.
some guy wrote:The point is so that medical, cargo and science departments talk to each other and cooperate, big no from me.
So yeah just break in and on the off-chance someone returns while you're still getting what you need blame them for daring to leave the desk for even a couple of minutes to upgrade shit in science or eat or go AFK or whatever

You can buy stock parts from the vendor in toolbox heaven. They're only tier 1 but at least you can built something without having to break into science or engineering
