slugs were the cancer part of shotguns, not buckshot. lings and antistuns were balanced by security having access to burst.

nowadays security has no burst, and antags are just slowly beaten to death with batons. laser guns are shit for burst.

nowadays nukies/traitor dont have on demand antistun to get out of stunlocks so theyre basically fucked if theyre tagged with anything.

also theres plenty of non-shotgun ways to deal with adrenals such as the temp gun, dragnet, bolas, high damage weaponry like spears or the fire axe, throwing stuff at them to chip away at their HP and cause wounds, etc.

currently the meta is 100% hinges on stunbatons because it has no direct counter to it, and theres no clear cut way for a antag to avoid it, bathsalts could work, but bathsalts will end up killing you in the end so whats the point.

also, the temp gun drag net and bolas are pretty redundant if there are no good ways of using them

Buckshots shouldn't have been removed. Any shotgun shells which fire a single projectile should have been. Buckshot pellet spread and falloff could have just been increased to relegate it to a solely short-range weapon, not a "specialist" one.

I feel as if all that PR did was remove the solid foundation of what shotguns are supposed to be and left us with all the garbage niche content that only appears in the late-game. Mods PLEASe lemme make a pr

I agree entirely with this post though I will say that a fine alternative would have been making shotgun have a damage zone.

i just hate slugs so god damn much, they remove the unique part of the shotgun and just make it another one shot one projectile sleepy baby gun
