Bring back standard borgs

Without the funny emagged sword of course.
They were the only adorable-looking borg, a true mechanical shrimp. They did not deserve to share their fate with secborgs.

I sort of like this, though it IS fairly easy with a half-competent roboticist to have them just reset you if your current module isn't doing it.

That said, Standard Borgs were really nice for those "I don't really know what we're going to need, so I want to be able to help with whatever and I can specialize later" rounds.

I killed them because borgs are meant to be role specialists. They specialised in doing a little of every role and honestly that's just a design choice to remove the module because of it.

There was previously no indication if a player was a marital aid borg or a module-less borg. Now you know if it's grey then it's currently mostly harmless until it selects a module.

So if they are to return I'd want them to be a dedicated specialist at role and clearly distinguished from borgs that haven't picked a module yet.

No, I meant making modul-less borgs look like the finished shell, instead of sharing sprites with standard borgs.

you'd have to do extensive nerfs for them to be balanced. it could be done, though

Even if you nerfed them into the ground they'd still be borgs that are designed to do a security officer's job, which is generally not what an Asimov borg should be doing

I will agree though that standard borgs do look like funky little shrimps

It's a shame they're gone because the esword was fun. I thought the main point of contention was their cable cuffs because they enabled them to act as scuffed secborgs?

That's true. But an Asimov sec borg would by definition be more concerned about using its equipment to prevent harm than enforce space law, even though historically they didn't always do so. Even now on Manuel we have Asimov AIs ignoring door requests when they decide that the person making them isn't allowed to enter a certain room. But that's a cultural thing that can be changed through policy and the proper enforcement of rules.

You act like, instead of removing them, the problems with them couldn't have just been solved instead. Change, remove or nerf their modules. Add damage slowdown to borgs. Prevent them using harm intent (now combat mode) to lock themselves in place and block escape. Fix whatever other issues I'm not thinking of because they were removed so long ago.

Gentlemen, gentlemen! I contrasted standard & security borgs in the original post, I would NEVER wish the latter be added back. Aren't very fond of the emagged esword either.

I miss secborgs because they have a very nice looking sprite. Couldn't really care for the gameplay side of it.
