Security remote door computer

What if all doors had a unique ID that sec officers can radio back to the warden to type into a computer to open when following a suspect?
This would be a unique computer that starts in the brig control, can open/unbolt a door based off a 6 digit ID code entered.
Would be slower than asking an AI but it provides a alternate way to open stuff on low pop or when the ai is dead also provides a reason for the warden to mill about their office.
Counter to the computer would be to cut the ai control wire.
