Improvised Throwing Stars (Code in progress)

For those not aware: Syndicate Agents can purchase Syndicate Throwing stars and be real ninjas. They imbed in limbs 100% of the time and never fall out. For those who AREN'T syndicate agents, however, I'm coding a ghetto version made from sheet metal. It will embed 60% of the time and have a 3% fall chance (This means it will damage you, on average, 5 times before it falls out.) Balance tweaks will be made as it is playtested.

Semi related, but NICHE exploitable hilarity.

Make a piss weak nade, 30u bottles of pot and water.
Use a infared/igniter assembly.
Stick it in maint/other 1 wide corridor adn setthe laser to invisble.
Pile a bunch of rods/glass shards/whatever the fuck else right in front of it. (BEFORE arming the thing)
Laugh as some poor fuck walks around the corner and gets insta killed by 20 rods impaling his ass.

They already exist, dude. They're called floor tiles.

Apply wirecutters to floortiles. Make jagged edges. The gray tide continues to adapt and grow stronger.

Then fucking make them. If the idea is that they're sharp, they should be sharp.

Floor tile ninja stars are legit as fuck. I agree with the above, just have them get processed with a wire cutter.

The only finicky bit is that you grab and throw the whole stack at once, as I recall, so you need to have them in one hand and take a tile out every throw with the other.

Good. There's a disappointing shortage of improvised weapons, particularly ranged ones.

Does no one remember WHY floor tiles were nerfed? You could out robust even heavily armed peolpe with a stack of tile - even wizards would get rekt.

Yeah. As fun as it would be I don't see a way to balance it. Making them non stackable would be a start but embedding is really rough even a few would be a severe injury.

On bay versions people play with floortiles breaking bones and causing internal bleedings.

How about they behave like glass shards in that they hurt your hand?

Makes sense since you just cut it without any kind of refinement out of sheet metal

sticky are you dumb
do you think that every bit of a ninja star, even the flat part, is sharp or something. are you that dumb.

For reference, I have run some !!numbers!! for throwing star stats, after making some small adjustments. How they are made is presently going to be either: Using wirecutters on floortiles, sheet-metal recipe, or plasteel recipe.

Now- stats. The improvised shuriken have an embedded pain multiplier of 3, throwforce 3,fallout chance 3, w_class 2, and a 60% embed chance. This means that:

-On average, a thrown shuriken will cause 19.2 points of damage in isolation (Accounts for limited chance of embedding and assumes the following: Target moves around until shuriken drops out, target does not perform an Unsafe Removal of the shuriken.)
-On average, a shuriken that successfully embeds will deal 30 points of damage over an extended period of time.

-On embedding, they deal 8 points of damage.
-With each step they have a 15% chance to deal 4 damage and a 5% chance to fall out. This means they will, on average, deal damage 3 times for a total of 12 damage.
-On falling out, they deal 10 damage. On "Unsafe Removal", they deal 16 damage.
-If they hit but don't embed, they deal 3 damage.

In other words: They are on average more dangerous than a floortile in terms of sheer damage, but have the following drawbacks.

-Don't stack.
-Damage occurs over time rather than up-front.
-Less reliable damage than floortiles (although they also have the potential for more damage).
-Slightly harder to get.

Can't you make plasma floor tiles? If you can, cutting those into throwing stars and embedding them should set people on fire, but comes out on the stop+drop+roll(since it gets smaller because some of it is consumed in the blaze).

If there are uranium floor tiles or at least stars made from uranium coins, if the projectile embeds, it should irradiate them just a little until they pull it out.

Diamond throwing stars could be like some super sharp shit that has a high embed chance, but is easy to pull out. If the victim fails to pull it out it should deal about 5 brute.

Gold throwing stars from tiles or coins could always fall out if the victim is on fire.

Silver throwing stars could cause double damage from shocked doors or grilles.

Just my shitty ideas :^)

They are improvised, right? This means they are sharp and dangerous, but have jagged edges. I've cut pennies in half with this awesome pair of pliers and the core of the pennies is super hard and sharp as fuck. I've gotten tiny cuts from just handling them and I don't notice them until I wash my hands. It'd make sense that these stars with jagged blades that aren't machined or well-crafted would give you some razor sharp cuts and you wouldnt notice them. Any form of basic hand protection should prevent this.

Kind of gives me an idea for an alternative to the IED
- make regular IED but don't put in the cable
- put in glass shards (up to 10)
- add cable
- when detonated fires off shards in random directions at high speeds that ricochette off walls until they either travel a certain distance or get stuck in something meaty
