Right ok hear me out, imagine the following: Very obvious rev round going by, observers watch either cus they just died or just cause they observed.

Admin, from the fun panel, starts a betting round, with the options themselves also given by the admin. Like, a custom vote, but exclusively for observers.
To participate in the betting you have to bet at least 1 GP, or Ghost Point, a new currency introduced with this.

The bet options go as so:
"Who will win?
1. Revs
2. Command"

Ghosts place their bets, which can be any amount of GP.
If option 1 wins, the total of all points bet will be divided equally and given to each person that voted option 1, while option 2 voters get nothing.
If option 2 wins, same thing happens but with the option 2 voters getting points instead.

Ghost Points serve two purposes:
1. Bragging rights.
By inspecting a ghost, it says "They have XX ghost points!"
2. Round interaction.
You can, for example, change the offset of an object in a tile, make an object glow, make a player hallucinate a specific noise, small stuff thats inconsequential for the round that makes it possible for ghosts to mess with people. Each one of these costing 1 point and having a huge cooldown of like, 5 minutes.

The idea is to make something like Twitch's betting thingie with channel points, and giving a purpose to those points by implementing spectator stuff like the gun possessing in TTT.

Would immediately be twisted into a unfun system, when you have too low ghost points because maintainers thought it was a good idea for PR balance of the week to make ghost roles and midround antag/event rolls ghost-point reliant. The alternative is voting and griefing. no thanks.

No they wouldn't, that'd be an awful idea. It's literally just a funny admin event to give observers something to do

Round interaction can be sorta dangerous, ways for ghosts to communicate with players can turn to cringe ghostcourt real quick

I actually think this sounds fun. I think it's not too dangerous if its a) admin-gated and b) living players don't know there are active ghosts around. Ghost court doesn't really occur (in my experience) for ghost-controlled birdboat/ian which happens as a station trait

Not a fan of the round interaction but having the points for bragging rights, and using the achievements system to give it a public leaderboard, sounds like a great idea.

Even divorced from being able to spend this on in-game interactions this seems pretty fun, sort of like twitch chat points.

The original idea was to not have ghost interactions at all and be just bragging points, but my main worry with this is that people just won't care.
Have you ever been to northernlions chat. everyone there hate watches for the casino even though you cannot spend the channel points on anything other than putting sunglasses on an emote
