ALLLLRIGHHHT, This is the Sec Addition for a Gunsmithing section added onto it.
Image

Final Concept is as follows;
CNC Assembly
CNC Control Console

On round start, there is one CNC control console in the far left corner of the CNC Assembly Area (See Picture)
CNC Control Console
Image

To the right of that, is a CNC Machine
CNC Machine:

To the South of the CNC-CC is a workbench
Micro Screwdriver is sitting at the southern most end, A chair in the middle, and a desk lamp (The metal ones, not the yellow ones) at the northern most end.

Bullet Making

In the south east corner of the room, there is a reloading bench
Reloading Bench (PLACE HOLDER SPRITE: SOON TO CHANGE)
Image

To the south of that, is a work bench, going from East to West (The other one was South to North) - The Reloading Workbench is exactly the same, except instead of a MS, theres a damp rag sitting where a MS would be.

Storage
To the western end, is a 3x3 room for storage, it contains 3 ID locked metal crates (Requires Armory Access) They are lined up from North to South, and contain nothing.

That's not even /tg/station13's map.

Ok seriously, this is something that does not need to be its own job, it doesn't really fit with the rest of the station by itself.

Fold it into research, fold it into cargo whatever. It does not need to be its own job, it does not need its own machines, it makes no fucking sense to do so when we have machines that make guns already.

Its not worth it, cut your losses already.

It's a novel concept, but just because it can be added doesn't mean it should be.

It's honestly some great work, but it's just not for us.

That's Metastation. Best station. Learn2station.

Abandon all hope, for people have started the 1,286th "Box sucks! No meat sucks! Sybil scum! Badger erping metascum!" argument.

While I don't like this idea, the gun blob could just as easily be put into box's armory.

Edit: /tg/station13 has 3 official maps. Meta, Tg2 (interestingly, box is just a nickname), and Mini. Until recently, it also had eff3, but it was taken off when the mappers decided they wanted meatstation back

It's actually not a bad idea; it's just new and different, and therefore scary. (Also possibly horribly overpowered, if we really do get pulse miniguns.)

Has it been coded, or is this all just hypothetical?

I just realised, this takes out one of the main weaknesses of the Armory - going via space. It's still possible to go around the gunsmithing area to thermite in, I hope?

The idea that the warden should ignore the brig and sit out back printing lethal guns (security don't need MORE guns damnit) doesn't sound good to me.

It's entirely hypothetical, and would be an ungodly nightmare to code, as far as I've heard.

There looks like there's still space to go around the outside.

@Night-
Yes, you can thermite into the main armory from the right or the left, aswell as being able to thermite into the gun storage.
@Callan-
Thats Basil, Fuck sybil, you don't get gunsmithing, you aren't cool enough

That implies this was ever getting made anyway.

There shoud be a maint version of room this for the assistants to make muskets and other pirate/improvised/outdated/shit guns.

Better off to revamp R&D guns then to give security alternative R&D lab for guns.

John, if you can get someone to get me sprites for every gun that would be compatible with it, I'l try my inexperienced coding hand at it.
Otherwise stop necroing your ideas.

Could also have an old gunsmithing place in maint that got raided and trashed by sec, barricaded up and forgotten. Cobwebs, smashed consoles but the boards are still there, etc.

Give me a list of every gun in the game and a sprite for it and i'll make every single one have every single part and offer every single avalible combination.

I'll write you a design document for it to.

I still don't get the point. Why would you want to devote time to make lethals (that sec should rarely use) marginally better? There's no firefights in this game, and when there are (nuke ops) it's just chaotic spraying and praying. It's a game of stuns, and lethal force is used in a kill-guaranteed situation.

Because the status quo stun based combat is shitty and unfun and striving to change it is a good thing?

And how does gunsmithing achieve that?

Good question, I'm also wondering.

Because no one is going to use a shitty default taser because the stocked, recoil absorbed, tensioned, twin barrel, 357 revolver does more damage and is much cooler to use.

that was never the intent anyways, you can take apart stun guns and incorperate them into normal rifles as a underbarrel attachment or to merge it with a egun for the old egun style.

but because new and interesting features will be used much more than default weapons (more so ones with infinite combinations that very rarely will result in you feeling like you did all there is to do)

also because it's neat. everyone likes neat shit.

i rest my case.

Honestly what sounds nice in my head is a console that:
-stores parts
-lets me shove a gun in it, add parts (swapping replaced parts into storage), and then pop the gun out ready to use
-maybe lets me choose to load it with stored ammo for good measure

Something where an officer can quickly get half a dozen shotguns modded with underbarrel somethings, loyalty firing pins & loaded with beanbag rounds while the HoS is briefing the others on the situation. Is that what you're doing here? Or is the implementation different?

no, it'll be a machine that prints out parts to the gun and a workbench where you can assemble it with some tools.

it'll require basic knowledge of gun anatomy to put one together.

but other than that, yea.
