So After playing a hilarious (and massively fluke) nuke op round where I made us WARBOYS, and we all sprayed our faces white/screamed WITNESS ME before exploding, etc, I thought of a neat gimmick idea for ghetto weaponry.

Wired rods can already add either wire cutters or glass shards, for prods and spears respectively, what if we could add firebombs/some other explosive thing, to make those explosive lances from mad max?
They would be single use, explosive spears that would be ghetto one use ranged(or melee if you're HARDCORE) stuns.

Mainly I just like the idea of the greytide swarming a mauler or some shit, throwing dozens of explosives lances at it, trying to bring it down.

We also need silver spray cans/food spray for certain reasons too.

YES. This would also give IEDs an actual point. As for balancing, I don't think these should be meant as "stun" weapons, instead being like an instant grenade.



Something else we could do is make them an item in a Warboys gang. I mean, I dunno about you guys, but that would be the fucking best.

When I say stun, I mean in the sense that explosions tend to knock you down unless they're super weak and/or you have good armour.

as long as they dont gib or do too much damage to enable people to just chain throw and crit someone, i'd be behind this. more in favor of a stun than damage though personally

I'm almost positive these would get removed after a week of assistants swarming nuke ops and wizards but it'll be a really funny week so I'm willing to code this.

I'm thinking making them do 60 damage at the max with possible knockout if they're unarmored. Otherwise they'll be a bit insane.

this must be a joke because you can make literally dozens of IEDs right off the bat
they should at most be a minor stun, IIRC 60 damage is literally the amount of damage a pulse rifle does so making them deal 60 damage each would mean giving all assistants free pulse rifles at roundstart
this is the worst idea i've ever heard (that was presented unironically) :lol:

IED's require an igniter, I don't know of a place you can get igniters except from an autolathe/protolathe. Can you get them out of the vendormat in prime tool storage? If you can my idea was fucking horrible.

60 is pretty retarded. Just make it a -1,1,2,3 explosion or something - if you direct hit someone you'll probably stun them unless they're heavily armoured, and do a bit of damage, without gibbing/breaching the hull.

And by makin the finished item bulky, and requiring table crafting/a delay to add the explosive to the wired rod, you stop people from being able to spam the shit out of them.

Edit: I have no idea what ex_act does, but there needs to be a 2nd version of the lance (maybe mining loot room/wiz gun summon only/badmin only etc etc), that has an explosive strong as a mini bomb or something hilarious.

Oh also to add onto this, the explosive lances are called "Thunder Sticks" in Mad Max.

Ex_act is what happens when a mob is in range of an explosion. The amount of damage you take depends on the severity.

I could just have two small explosions spawn on each guy as well.

As to minibombs I could probably let you build them with minibombs and C4 as well and deal an appropriate amount of damage depending on what you built it with.

If we wanted to really be insane we could make a Warboys gang and add the Thunder Sticks to it. A group of chrome-faced psychos with thunder sticks and hatchets.

Wouldn't be a very viable gang if their primary weapon killed the user.

However if you want to try and run that yourself gangsters can already buy spraycans and C4

So are you just coding them as suicide bomb sticks or javelin bomb sticks? I thought they were the javelin bomb sticks.

I was thinking of the scene where the guy jumps onto the hood and blows himself up when designing these in my head. I dont think they'd be very balanced weapons if they didnt carry significant risk to the user.

Either that or they'd have to make very weak explosions, which would be dull.

I mean, they're also one-use, explode, don't break the hull, and are unlikely to KO people in armor. I think they would be kinda balanced if they couldn't fit in bags and were throwable.

Well imagine assistants being able to throw C4 stars and imagine how many rounds it would be before OOC is screaming for a revert (pretending it gets merged at all)

Except they wouldn't be a problem to anyone in armor outside of outstandingly unlucky RnG. Besides, what would you rather be hit by unarmored, one of these, or an imbedded spear.

Edit: you know what? Fuck it. Just code an awesome explosive lance thing, and get it merged. Balance can come later.

Instead of IEDs why not change all the assemblies to be more fun and add stuff like on contact sensors and stuff so we can do this with C4.

Or make IEDs accept assemblies.
