Torture is a pretty fucking dark route to go down honestly. Why debase our selves further, there's already lifeweb for stuff like that.

But honestly it's only really a roleplay devise, wouldn't have any gameplay mechanics, and if you really REALLY wanted to go down that path and somehow evaded a ban for being a creepy motherfucker, why couldn't you just use a battery and cable and emote it? Why does it need a coded item?

It already is coded pretty much with the defib. I once caught a traitor doc who had an emagged one. Dragged him in for questioning and used it on him until he'd tell me the name of another traitor. It actually worked. Not everything needs a pure MUST ADD NEW ELEMENT OR ADVANTAGE IN GAMEPLAY function. I mean we have the holodeck, the bar, video game machines, a ton of clothes, and a bunch of other shit that is either fluff or meant to promote RP. I also fail to see how you can compare a small shock to something like cutting off limbs/genitals/rape as in lifeweb.

I also once tortured a clown traitor by eating his banana in front of him but that's another tale.

What's the point? If someone doesn't want to tell you, they won't. It's not like real life, there's no reason to react to pain.

Besides, there are several objects that do this sort of stuff already. Just be imaginative, we don't need to add objects specifically for one grim purpose.

If they don't tell you under torture, execute and cremate them. When they adminhelp, simply explain they were a proven changeling - no human would be able to resist that much pain without reacting.

Exactly. Just like in real life, you'll get more reliable results out of a vaguely friendly conversation. A proportion of people won't talk no matter what, but of those that will, torture is rarely your best option. If nothing else, they get fed up and just tell you to eat a dick eventually.

I'm seriously questioning if some of you genuinely need some sort of professional help. It just doesn't seem like a healthy attitude to want to add torture to a game. Maybe you've become number from other entertainment sources and figure "it's only a game" except it's a game where you role play and mentally invest some emotion, thought and immersion into said role. It just seems crazy to me to be discussing the idea of implementing an object to go down that path.
