simple mob cloner for genetics

so this has been sitting around in my "things to do.txt" for a while:
"simple mob cloner: insert brain, insert dead simple mob, simple mob is revived with conciousness from the brain (might be janky balance-wise?)"

Basically what I want is a genetics scanner thingy that you drop a dead simple mob into, like Runtime's corpse or a dead basilisk. Then you smack a button, which causes the scanner to bolt shut. After a long while (about the same amount of time as normal cloning), it unlocks and opens up, dispensing a living simple animal.

What I also wanna do is have it so you can stick a brain in there, so that when the process is complete, the simple mob is revived is now player-controlled by the owner of the brain. This way you can get things like a legitimate player-Ian/Runtime/Poly/whatever.

I've also considered being able to emag it, which causes the mob to be super aggressive when it's revived, and make it so that if it's player-controlled it will have to obey the every order of whoever created it. This way a mining traitor can create a super-army of evil goliaths from the souls of assistants. To balance this, the mobs might have to gib on death.

Thoughts?

That sounds awesome. Especially the miner traitor part, put that in cargo/mining so that it's the go-to place to revive Ian/other Head of staff pets while also letting miners do cool shit.

I was thinking that cloning gets upgraded so they can do it.
Like Phasic scanner/phasic manips and picos

Nah this should be its own dedicated thing, not attached to genetics.

There's tons of room in mining, you could put it where the crate is in the Metastation mining dock, and on Box you could do the same.

to be honest making horrible frankenbominations would be more xenobio's thing

Well, xenobio is a fairly underrated wing of science, last time I checked.

Xenobiology, more lethality than every other department combined, and has the destructive power to quite literally crash the server. Like, if there was a scale of deadliness, xenobiology would go so far above every other one it's not even funny. You've seen player spiders and statues right?

Can lazarus injectors put brains into your corgi? Can lazarus injectors be acquired without 1000 mining points? I think not.

Wouldn't this basically be a sentience potion machine? It should require a sentience potion to construct.

Then it'll never be made, it should be roundstart.

Reminder that this shit requires an active brain in addition to a dead animal.

It's also pretty likely that not every single mob is accepted in there, ex: anything that doesn't have fuckin' DNA.

Wait, we're also talking about being able to implant brains into animals?
Fuck, didn't remember that part.
If THAT'S part of the deal, I'm in, although that's more of a surgery thing then a cloner thing.

Maybe give it to botony for ranching critters?
