Miners being able to construct their own bunkers/houses/mansions based around a spawned pod would be really cool. Maybe have a module system where they can use mining points to set down additions that add rooms to the pod with things like 'anti-mob turrets' for external modules, storage areas with lockers, or workshop rooms that spawn with caches of metal, glass, girders and a tool closet?

WJ and I are working on the colony drop feature, and I will be sure to request that miners also get access to the drop room (As they in all likelihood will be the ones who will pick the landing spot). It is not exactly your suggestion, but you will have materials there for building, and Sci/Engi may be there to help you get set up as well.

Construction permits only let you modify existing rooms, you need the station blueprints to make a brand new room that didn't exist before
