You can combine the staff of Lava and the Staff of Storms to create the Staff of the Wastes. Still has the on use ash storm ability and point ability that turns ground into lava now it just two handed.

Other ideas:

The combined might of the staves allows instead a choice

Create 3x3 lava pools or unending ash storms/increased duration ash storms or on use instantly creates an ash storm that is full on damage mode.

Can summon goliaths or other creatures of the wastes including ashwalkers.

There aught to be more item combination.
It's an informal new item when you combine the two wizard/tator/cult gear together
