Replace useless, boring and unappealing fly memes with unique and interesting spider memes.

Since we now have the code for mobs with multiple hands, let's make use of it. If we already have anthropods on the station, why not pick the better kind of anthropods and get interesting mechanics along with it?

It would be a pain to maintain with six different inhands, but it'd be worth it, maybe

fly people are a good reference considering how they come about

You want to REMOVE flies instead of just adding spider-people as some sort of ultra-evolutionary chain of the space spiders? No creativity, I swear.
Also what Kor said, multiple limbs will never work/be balanced for this. We have shitty equipment for the mobs as it is with so little pockets/carrying capacity outside of backpacks.

Now, if you want to add spider people to lavaland, or make some sort of ruin where there is an eternal war of flymen and spiders, go ahead.

So it turns out that block chances are calculated separately, so you can't get 100% block chance from stacking shields. Still a lot tho.

Well, you could use sharp weapons to chop limbs off - if you target left limb, your attacks would have a chance of affecting one of existing ones.

Given their amount, max health of their arms would probably be reduced a bit.

What if a spider losing its limb is extremely dangerous and is fatal if not immediately treated ?

I wonder of prostethic replacement can replace arms if you've already got two.
