Pneumatic turret.

Post by scrubs2009 » #246123

So I was thinking this would be a cool thing that engineering might be able to make. It's the default turret but instead of putting in an energy weapon 2 pneumatic cannons are put in. Once loaded it could be toggled between 2 firing modes; Shotgun, which launches everything loaded into the gun at once and single shot, which shoots objects out one at a time at the same fire rate as the default turret.
Thanks, Kev.

Harder than it would logically seem because pneumatic cannons aren't guns because reasons.
technically the turrets can take any energy gun at the moment, it'd be really easy to make it fit any gun, but to make it fit any item at all? bleh, more annoying.
Doable, but annoying.

The items would be loaded after the turret is built. Think if it less as coding a turret to fire items and more like coding a pneumatic cannon to be stationary with a different sprite.

I can't think about it that way as it would never be accepted that way.
If it's a turret you want, then it's a turret you'll need, creating a stationary pneumatic cannon is the same logic that caused the cannon to not be a gun, that is to say, bad logic.

What about engineering being able to cobble together a coilgun that fires metal rods at high velocity, but, only works if it's installed in a turret frame? Reasonably doable or no?

That being said, turrets are a bit finnicky with their targeting systems in that there's no way to tell them to shoot assistants, but not engineers. It'd be nice if they could be set with airlock-style access levels whom they'll ignore, but fire at everyone else who doesn't have the access levels it checks for.

more doable, as there is no "coilgun", meaning it could be created as an actual gun, which makes it far more compatible with turret code.

Just give us the ability to attach to an emitters firing wire.

Someone make turrets have better targetting options and AI and I'l code this as well as tesla coils/emitters having a pulseable activation wire.
