New movement mode for digitrade legged lizards
Here's my shitty idea.
Lizards with digitrade legs and empty hands can run on all fours
What it gives:
The good: speed boost. I'm thinking maybe 1.5x-1.7x, maybe 2x (but 2x might be just too overpowered)
The bad: Lizards smash into walls and airlocks if they fail to stop before hitting one, dealing minor damage to head with a chance of knockout and concussion (brain damage). Also they can't open airlocks in this mode. Hands become "busy" and they can't use them.
The other bad: One more reason to call lizards dirty animals ("Have you heard? Liggers are walking on all fours. I thought animals belong in the zoo, HONK"); Lizards hurting themselves

Balance and mechanics aside, this is almost impossible to implement due to spriting issues. Every single piece of wearable clothing and gear would need to be resprited for crawling lizards, in addition to every new piece of gear that's added later.

I honestly wouldn't bother. Aside from the massive spriting and maintenance ballache this would be there would be a fucking huge controversy over giving more snowflake power shit to lizards, especially digitigrade lizards, regardless of whatever downsides it carries

The general consensus seems to be that the other races should be downgrades to humans in the majority of situations, so people are pretty hesitant to buff them in any way.
Also, even minor speed boosts are super strong in this game.

The thing is movement speed is calculated in a way that decreasing your slowdown by even 1 will make you overpowered and increasing by 1 makes you unable to fight.

Humans can move every tick/decisecond when running and once per 4 ticks when walking.
Adding 1 makes you twice as slow.
Subtracting one makes you move 2 tiles per tick/decisecond.
I say tick/decisecond because I am too lazy to find out which but the point stands.
Adding 1 halves your speed and makes combat impossible while subtracting 1 makes you unable to be hit.

As the progenitor of most of the not objectively terrible lizard changes:
1. Lizards are supposed to be 90% cosmetic differences, they are not supposed to be dramatically different in terms of gameplay like how plasmamen are.
2. The snowflake is there intentionally to draw up ire, the legs are to out people who are so snowflake that they'd take a strategic loss to look different. They are also there to look nice of course.
3. None of the weird sex stuff is canon, stop it >:(.

September 7th 2014 I said that if you make Lizards available as a race for everyone it will inevitably lead to another gimmick races. It's three years later and you can be a Plasma Person, a Fly Person (from setup), Lizard Person. Slime people were a thing as far back as metroids. I mean it had to be applied by an admin but you could become a metroid person they became jelly people now iirc. Plant people got a radical expansion of look because before you used to look like a fucking potato with a green humanoid body.
