Make mesons not remove all overlays
Okay so lavaland looks fucking suuuuperb with the new lighting system. I was thinkng maybe we could add a toggle or make it so mesons don't remove all other overlays?
Making lava tiles emit more light could really add to the atmosphere
Lava rivers look incredible as well not pictured

If you want to be in the dark just take them off yourself like you already have done.

You need mesons to see all of the rocks, without them, you only see the content of the nearby walls. What miners need are a material scanner.

NO NO NO NO.
We tried the material scanners in the past on the comparatively peaceful asteroid and they SUCKED COCK, on lavaland you'd get fucked ten ways to hell if miners couldn't see three feet in front of themselves.

I think it'd be cool. Just make em show lava and highlight chasms within sight (mainly because I'd imagine they'd be a bitch to see in the dark). Make them show space tiles too so that engineers would still be able to locate hull breaches easily with them.

Re: Make mesons not remove all overlays
No highlighting chasms.
Their whole point of being is "watch were you're walking." And they're still pretty visible with the new system [Even with mesons off]

Just add a crate of material scanners in the backroom at the mining base. Whoever wants them can have them. Leave a paperslip with instructions too if you really must.

What exactly do you mean by "all their overlays"?

It overrides fire systems as wells. Instead of red lights you see nothing
Just give material scanner as a toggle for mesons or something?

Re: Make mesons not remove all overlays
Meson scanners remove the darkness/lighting overlay, allowing the user to see all turfs at all times, regardless of lighting, while still hiding objects and mobs that are obscured by darkness or out of view. Night vision goggles remove darkness as well.
