Or steal that rusty grungy looking raiders' power armor?

To what extent is armor customizable anyway?

Man I should get this game ASAP.

EDIT:
Nvm just opened the whole screenshot and looked at it. Looks interesting.

Yeah, the raiders have figured out how to make their own power armor, and honestly? It's not horrible, especially in the beginning. It doesn't upgrade far, but it's very easy to repair, only taking steel.

Okay, so people have been complaining about not being able to wear armor over clothes.

HOWEVER: If you do a certain quest line, you will gain the ability to make armored clothing that looks like normal clothing, but DRAMATICALLY exceeds standard armor in energy and physical protection value. For example, an Armored Trilby Hat has NINETY physical and energy protection with the Armorer 3 version of the upgrade, while an Army Helmet has 10 physical and that's it.

The downside is you have to wear a trilby.

If you wanna see something hilarious, open the console, type TGM, and make an absurd amount of turrets. Wait for a raider attack.

Doesn't have to be a trilby, you can armor any hat that's categorized as "clothing" afaik.

Also you can't armor eyeglasses but you can armor your lab coat

The lack of metal pieces for settlements is making me sad. There's nowhere near as many as the wooden ones, and the wooden ones are ehhhh. Holes everywhere.

The story isn't bad I think. I'm okay with it. Coul dbe better, could be a lot worse. Just wish the player character showed at LEAST A LITTLE more emotion. The rest of the characters I've met are cool though. Decent VAs that fit what they do, and show emotion.

The worst part of the story is that obviously it does the Bethesda thing of "here's the main plot line, feel free to ignore it completely" except it also presents you with a plotline that makes absolutely no sense for your character as something they'd ignore completely, and reminds you of this fact every time you progress.
It's kind of trying to have its plot and sandbox cakes at the same time.

I'm liking it so far. Runs like shit on my computer when I get into the more urban areas. Hoping that's just a matter of Bethesda patching it or ATI releasing new drivers and not a sign that I need to replace my steadily aging hardware
No more karma system.
I'm actually ok with this because of how stupidly fallout 3 and especially New Vegas handled that shit. Kill those powder gangers who attack you on sight and with absolutely no provocation whatsoever? Great work! Positive karma! Loot all the shit in their outposts? Oh dear that's stealing! Negative karma for you. Kill the leader of a pack of ghouls you helped get into ten penny tower who proceeded to slaughter literally every single resident of the settlement and then fed their corpses to feral ghouls? NEGATIVE KARMA BECAUSE HE A GOOD BOY HE JUST TRYIN TO HELP HIS BRUDDAS.

Focusing more on whether or not your companions like you seems like the better way to go.
Spoiler:
also love how you can customize your wife in the beginning. I gave mine a fat lip and a black eye.

Finished the main story twice on a branched save.
Spoiler:
First I sided with the railroad, then I went back to a previous save and sided with the Institute. I feel that siding with the Railroad was the most morally right option, but if you side with the Institute, you get motherfucking TELEPORT BACKUP GRENADES.

I haven't picked up the game since I finished a couple hours ago. I do feel the story improved towards the back end, especially with the Railroad.

Right now I'm trying to decide which save to continue with- the one where I can feel good about myself, or the one where I have teleport backup.

I'm actually impressed by all the little attention to detail they threw in the game with companions.

Says a lot about how much work they put into your companions when they throw something like that in that there's almost no chance a lot of players would stumble upon.

I played about 5 hours today after my brother passed out from playing it lol (he tried really hard to stay away from spoilers and stuff this whole week; it came saturday morning). I kinda like it, I probably won't enjoy it as much as if I was playing with a keyboard/mouse because >xbone , but I still liked the controls and feel of the game in my first bit playing. I went 10str 8end like 6-7 luck, melee/unarmed only lol

idk if this is really spoilerish but I'll spoiler it anyway
Spoiler:
I was walking down the far west side of the map, right at the border for like 1 1/2. I passed some satellite dishes where there wasn't anything much. I keep going and I see this deep gorge thing, near the entrance to the gorge thing down a ways was what looked to be a little house with a fence. As I neared the entrance to the gorge I spotted a behemoth absoluetly crushing and splattering like 4 deathclaws. I shot a deathclaw fnr and it kinda chased me into the gorge but then ran away. when I went to see where it ran to the fucking behemoth was right around the corner...KERSPLAT ded. I was level 6 at the time, I also didn't know what the behemoth was at the time so it was more exciting/scary...you know the feeling I'm trying describe I guess
also the idiot savant perk for luck 5-6 I think is fucking hilarious. Everytime it procs when you're just picking up some random shit I seriously stop and laugh for a moment.

I feel the pacing for the game is a bit off, not to mention the absolute lack of any good tutorials.

You go from just waking up in a Cryogenic Vault 200 years later to becoming the fracking General of a faction 30 minutes later. Not to mention there's no real desire to push forward the main quest at all, the whole point of you being here is to find the man responsible for what happenend in the Vault, yet the systems in place like the Settlement building encourage you to remain in the starting area's for a long time to build up, whereas with other Fallout's there was always the incentive to push forward and explore new areas.

Also the Settlement building seems rushed and unfinished.

I'm enjoying the game for what its worth.

all Bethesda games have this issue where the side quests and random shit are far more interesting than the main storyline

I've come a long ways from asking how to switch hands.

Tele-man somehow dies and gets its looted by an atmos tech who managed to use it to send two nuke ops to lavaland, who were then surrounded by several very angry people from earlier and some extra golems on top of it.

My biggest concern is that my current approach of "take advantage of no level cap to make a max-stat character who can experience every playstyle" is that by the time I get around to actually raising my charisma/agility/strength to try stealth/melee stuff I'll have already beaten 90% of the interesting content/quests and I'll be decked out in pimp armor/guns that can 1-shot everything anyway so sneaking around stabbing raiders loses its novelty when you could've popped their head from 200m out.

But I also loathe the idea of repeating games/quests, especially since I haven't even finished my primary save. Will this game really have enough content for me to not feel like I'm "done" by level 50?

I'm currently level 40 and don't feel like I'm "done". I don't know how the next 10 levels will go, however.
In game, I play the A.I Firmware, the French cyborg C.U.R.I.E, Aubrie Allen, and the lizard scum Skulks-Through-Maintenance.

I'd like this game a lot more if it could make up its mind on if it wanted to be a good FPS or a bad RPG. The gunplay's fun until you encounter yet another bullet sponge enemy.

If you encounter anything too bullet spongey, it's probably because you're in an area that's higher-level than you are or have built poorly.
Adventure somewhere else or make sure your upgrading perk is maxed.

Armorer is essentally mandatory for everyone, and everyone should take either Gun Nut or Science- preferably both. Rifleman is probably the best weapon damage upgrade perk, since it applies to a wide variety of weapons that can be used in many situations (Sniper rifles for long range, non-automatic laser rifles for mid-range combat, and shotguns for close quarters).

Protip: get a better gun and ditch the .38 pipe weapons as soon as possible. I completely broke the show down with Kellogg by simply stepping just outside the room and launching a fat man in there. Killed him and pretty much all his synths instantly. .45, .308, and 5.56 weapons have been working perfectly for pretty much anything I've come across. At this point I've just been using .38 rounds as currency.

Combat rifle is probably going to be anybody specced into rifleman's go to weapon.

Don't give it an automatic receiver and it uses that .45 ammo to great effect.

I want more settlement building options.

It's 210~ years after the bombs dropped, there's no excuse to making everything out of scrap still

I'm using a laser rifle, a modded to hell hunting rifle, and a combat shotgun. Lategame, fusion cells are easier to get than .45 ammo.

I'm mid 30s and I get more 45 than fusion cells

Raiders use combat rifles all the time for me.
