So, I've persuaded Oldman to do a little testing on thunderdome, and we've found out:

1) Xenomorphs can be converted by cult. They can also use cult telepathy just fine and understand people through it too.
2) Holoparasites can be converted by cult
3) Cyborgs and AI can be converted by cult
4) MMI, intellicards, positronics can't be converted.

I wonder how does it work with gangs and other conversion antags. In the next episode of mythbusters, we'll find out!

Well these 3 are items, so of course they can't be converted.
(Everything else you've mentioned is a mob primarily, these 3 are 3 mobs sat INSIDE of an item, thus you can't get to them to convert them)

Blobs are /obj/effect/blob, the overmind is an invisible eye camera, it's not /living so it can't be converted, plus it would have to WANT to be converted (or you get lucky and catch it in the rune as it moves, which is hard as you can't see it)

Due to the way bomb processing works now, it's possible to survive being in OBLITERATION range of the bomb, or avoid any damage.

The bomb processes row by row - if you're lucky enough, you can actually run between two processing, and not get damaged, apart from space cold.

Seems like a serious bug to me, but there we go.

This mechanic has another flaw: If you happen to be caught in the center of a high devastation blast with bomb armor, you will be thrown at high speed away from it (but stripped and killed). There is a chance that you can be hit again by the explosion as it loops outwards as you are traveling away from the first blast. This leads you to be gibbed, completely negating your bomb armor. I reported this a long time ago, but I was dismissed and the issue was declared as not a bug. https://github.com/tgstation/-tg-station/issues/12758

i'm guessing if you're strapped for diamond you can probably do some manipulation with corner reflectors to squeeze a few more emitters in there if you really hate the blob and want it over quickly.

you wouldnt see that on sybil either since that looks pretty blatantly staged, especially since the emitters have no wiring

I have been trying to do that ever since those reflector boxes were added. Whenever I got close to completing the setup, the blob had already died - or the crew failed completely/I never got a diamond.
For added fun, have a few emitters feed into a reflector loop, collecting hundreds of emitter beams before sending them off onto the core all at once.

You can use irrigation hoses in hydroponics trays to distribute nutrients as well as water. Just pour the contents of your nutrient bottle into your bucket and use the bucket normally. This works to a degree but isn't entirely reliable and some trays won't receive any nutrients because of how BYOND handles the division and because hydroponics trays aren't very well-coded.

Speaking of xenobio, when you're a slimeman and want to split quickly, using sugar on two purple slime cores and injecting yourself with the contents will fuel about 25-30 splits. Not hyperbole. Use with caution.

For a while I didn't know how melee combat actually worked

Basically, there's only two actual spots you're going to want to hit in melee (Even with dismemberment code, probably still applies)

Aiming for the chest has your melee weapons base damage plus ten chance for knockdown (Weaken)
Aiming for the head is just the base damage's chance to knock them out unconscious

Since a single knockdown is usually enough to flat out win a fight, most of the time you're just going to want to keep targeting the chest for the knockdown

Going for head KO's is generally better if you have another stun but your melee is your follow up, which has uses from just silencing the guy to just proccing the KO and moving on to another person against multiple people.

I used to just keep it at the head all the time because hurr durr that's where you would whack a cunt in real life, probably making me lose melee fights compared to if I just had the bonus knockdown chances from chest hits.

Anonmare wrote:I think the groin has a good chance at knockdown. I once punched two guys in the dick and they both went down in one hit each.
False, knockdown does not consider any zone besides head and chest.
  • chest is (force+10%) chance (eg: 30 dmg weapon = 40% chance knockdown when aiming at the chest)
  • head is (force%) chance (eg: 30 dmg weapon = 30% chance knockdown when aiming at the head) BUT the victim's armour must be below 50.
HOWEVER! the groin is considered the chest! so while it's not special, it follows all the rules of the chest (force+10%)

So no, the "groin" doesn't have a good chance, the chest does ;)

specific to the head, the chest (and consequently, groin!) does not check for armour at all (besides the fact armour reduces stuns)

ninja hood is 60
nar-sien hardened helmets have 60
the cult hoodie (from the "cult_shield" suit?) has 50
riot helmets have 41 (weird) so they get stuns

too lazy to point anymore out, search the github for "armor" and look at the lists, specifically the "melee" value.

RCD can be loaded with Metal instead of the modules meaning you can get nigh infinite use if you weld the walls down and deconstruct the girder.

This is really useful to know.

I just remembered the recipe for single tank bombs.
Get an igniter, a signaler, a screwdriver, a welding tool and an internals tank. Create a signaler and igniter assembly from screwdrivering the igniter and signaler and putting them together. Attach the assembly to the internals tank, then weld it. This let's you remotely detonate it.
Making the gas composition is still on you though lad. I don't remember the optimal gas mixtures anymore so you'll have to experiment. You'll want a good mixture of oxygen, plasma and hot gas. But not too much hot gas or else the tank will rupture.
