Depends on the week for me because of the part time life. Like this week I'm free any day except Friday and next week would be any day except Thursday. Also I'm on the PST if that affects anything.

Depends on the timezone

All of mine are clear regular afternoons my timezone, but when accounting for timezones to match up with what is afternoon in the US I can't do thursdays
I do have a flexible game on mon or tues, but that one can go on either of those days so it's probably fine

It should work for me. Though I'd prefer wednesdays or fridays as that keeps my flexible game flexible, but tuesdays are doable

I think i can do tuesdays, but i will bow out if the game gets too crowded. I will have a hard time making a character who is not a grizzled detective anyways, so maybe it is for the best lest i play the same guy across a billion games

The joke is that no amount of damage this character could possibly do with a 3 foot plastic armature could possibly affect anything I would want to bash with it.

Cosmic horror isn't necessarily about cosmic horror monsters.
Lovecraft wrote two kinds of protagonist. The first kind, which everyone remembers, grows faint and passes out at bad smells and douses himself in gasoline at the mere implication that he could have a non-white heritage. The second kind climbs into the dunwich manor with a couple henchmen and rapidly flips between paralyzed terror, homicidal rage and gibbering flight.
For some reason when talking about Lovecraft protagonists everyone conveniently forgets stuff like the norseman ramming literal cthulhu with a stolen boat in favour of meme shit about suicide

That was my favourite part of the story because it was so unexpected. Everyone is always talking about how cosmic horror is supposed to be about being completely powerless in the face of inconceivably evil monstrosities, yet in the story that defined the genre a guy rams a boat into Cthulhu's ugly face.

Those characters are inarguably few compared to most protagonists or bystanders in the mythos.

Of those three professors only one keeps theirbshit together and his hair turns white from the sheer shock of what he sees. IIRC the Norseman dies anyway. Etc.

The whole thing with the Lovecraft mythos is that yeah. You can fight it if you know what you're doing and have balls of steel. But you're probably going to die trying if you don't have what it takes. And even if you succeed you're not coming out unharmed.

Plenty of stories from him end with people surviving to tell the tale. Though usually not those directly involved with cosmic horrors, and usually with the implication the knowledge of it all has taken a toll on their sanity.

Okay, Call of Toronto update: I'm gonna tentatively schedule this shit for 5 pm EST (GMT - 3) next tuesday. At that time we will do character creation and rules questions.

Also of note: The Mythos Hardened optional rule is in effect. Once your Cthulhu Mythos skill exceeds your current Sanity; you have an important revelation and halve all incoming sanity damage from that point on.

My board game convention is underway.

I showed up really late to the first night but still managed to play

One round of Netunner (A++++ game as always)
Star Wars Imperial Assault (really fucking good! new to me)
Dungeons and Dragons (the 1980's electronic game, the only game I actually brought)
Dungeon Fighter (fun and silly, new to me)
Galaxy Trucker (fun and silly, have played it a lot before)
Five Cucumbers (sucked! some traditional Scandinavian game, apparently)
10 Down (interesting. made by a friend of a friend)

Tomorrow I'm itching to play
Dead Winter (never played before, heard good things)
A Fake Artist Goes to New York (played before, fun wacky creative game)
More Imperial Assault (weekend campaign maybe?)
Pandemic Legacy (we're in the middle of a game that has been going on for months, almost done!)
More Netrunner (gotta get my corp game in for redemption purposes)
Dark Tower (no connection to the fictional universe, another electronic board game from the 80's I'm bringing)

I think we may do a huge game of One Night Revolution or Werewolf with everyone in attendance.
Day one was kinda sparse being that it was still a workday for most folks and all. We plan to have a lot more folks in the door the next two days.

Imperial assault is great and we should do a campaign on TTS.

Dead of Winter is also good. It is like Battlestar Galactica but with more uncertainty and with players able to be a bit more independent.

I remember playing Dark Tower and liking it. But I was also tiny.

Pay 2 I played:

Dead Winter (was pretty cool, I recruited a huge posse of six survivors and stomped around the map. One of the players convinced the whole group we were going to lose and so people kinda threw the game at the end despite how we actually would've won, and I had my secret objective. god dammit!)
Netrunner (won my corp game against the player from day one, in a tournament I would've won the match at 6:7 and 7:0 for the two games. HB glacier is stronger than ever IMO)
Skulls (really good!)
The Fast and the Fthagn (tragically unplayable game with the most amazing assets)
Hex Hex (awesome!)
Some Alien Warfare game that was in a tiny UFO shaped tin (didn't like it, too random)
Resistance (always good. a game that gets better and better the more people you have to play it with. We only had 5, which is kinda mediocre IMO)

I really, really wish that fucking Fast and the Fthagn game was better because the cards and concepts are so funny. We had more fun just looking at the cards and laughing at the names and references than we did trying to setup and play it. The rules are a total mess and the way you move on the "board" is just a total clusterfuck.

No, Tuesday will be a "session zero". We'll more fully consider times (I go back to university in a week so my schedule will get shaken up a bit); make characters, and determine what *exactly* everyone hopes to get out of the game.

This is especially important because stats are rolled in Call of Cthulhu, so I want to roll those with the whole group present.

No, unfortunately. I think we might have to go back to the every-other-week schedule I outlined initially. I'm a bit swamped at the moment.

Also I'm going to have to bow out of the CoC game for the moment. Just GM'ing EP is as much as I can do at the moment.
