Bottom post of the previous page:

So... underground building sucks.

So you need to reinforce the floor before you can plan out the building
The ground needs to be flat too.
You need dig out a perimeter around your reinforcements if its off deed

You can not level tiles next to reinforced floors
Mining out cave walls next to reinforced floors can cause the ground to go uneven, including the ground under your reinforcements
Can you guess the issue here?

So if you've already reinforced the area; in order to level out the area you need to remove the reinforcements, this destroys reinforcement - massive waste of time and materials.

I moved a ton of clay up to the tower. If anyone can add it to the tower that should be enough for that stage and then have some left over to move down to the tavern site. I'll set about banging out the 350ish stone bricks we'll need when I get home.

The amount of time spent on just this tower is making me reconsider my resolve to make a colossus/bone altar to overlook the town.

Expect people to play more on weekends too, for obvious reasons

That house up there looks huge. But then as a public building it seems like a comfy enough meeting spot if you're with a group. Nice looking place in general

Its either slightly smaller than or roughly the same size as the monstrosity that Xhagi built shortly after joining the server. This one will make for a comfy tavern spot. Hopefully done before the next winter season starts.

Its funny that the slums are now rotting with missing wall panels like a real slum.

Its not funny that theres several good plots of deed space taken up by half built abandoned shacks.

This happened because, despite instructions, people went in with a minecraft "gotta build a house" mindset and just built garbage shacks and pointlessly large mansions in random places.

Its no small sum but we need to hunt and raise 5 silver and change to get our deed extended out as far as the chapel. That generally means killing a ton of mobs and selling furs. Don't submit that money to the settlement upkeep fund I can't remove that money and expansion costs have to be paid with cash in hand. Just save it in your banks and get it to me manually when you can.

this game doesn't require much in the survival department, it's about what you do after getting settled

-I mean, you can still probably get it cheap off GMG or something, most of us got on board at the 9 or 1 dollar range, but for all the hours I've sunk into it I'd say I'd have paid 20 for it.

-Its going. Its been hard to keep completely under control since most of it is urban sprawl from people who came, built and left so there's maybe 1-2 of us contributing to upkeep/deed expansion and we have a few structures way outside of the deed's upkeep protection range that will cost a lot of cash to bring in line. If we can't farm it out on hunting parties I might have to throw a couple bucks at the serb to expand the deed myself. Fair's fair since I think Qbop did that himself.
Apart from that, I've just been slacking on photoblogging. I just started up the brewery. We've got sugar and potato production going so we'll have moonshine and vodka going soon. Kinda wish we had some grapes to make wines with too. Malk found us some shale and a high QL iron deposit so that's pretty sweet. I just put in 5-6 new coal burning piles from a portion of the logs Malk deforested in the process of connecting us more directly to the highways. We have a hermit admin living up on the hill above us tending the crops on the terrace farms now too.
Oh, and I managed to bully Citrus into getting his house out of the middle of the road. Now I just have to move my kiln to match.

-Connection doesn't really matter. If you can handle Minecraft you can handle Wurm.

yeah I spent like $5 or whatever to get 10 silver to slap the deed down instead of spending 30 years killing animals with the default gear, because people kept getting lost trying to walk here and I got fed up

That's about how much it would cost to extend the deed as far as the chapel I built. It would bump the upkeep a little but even our casual animal slaughter is enough to keep up with baseline upkeep for like, 50 days.

That said, do you have any idea how I'm supposed to get the fermenting booze from the barrel into the still? The barrel certainly says that its in there, but it doesn't show on the "open" contents. Do I have to use a container of some sort on the barrel?

I think I'm guilty of chopping down the willow tree at 9:41, 9:43 shows about we are at and I believe the wagon that is shown a few seconds later is still there...or it's just some random wagon.

crazy how just a random piece of land in a game I don't really understand that well could have such a big story behind it.
Spoiler:

if you still don't think it's the same place, in this next video he lands at the place down by the lake where we get clay from. the road he is standing on is the exact same layout/road that is there still, and even that bit down below with the animals and shit is the same, just without the buildings/animals.

This is why I'd like to see a very rare chance of a permanent/not-decaying 'ruin' version of a building in these type of games. Stumble upon an ancient ruin? That would be pretty good stuff.
