Current Bagil round had me in full HoS gear with a shield in crit with one burst, while also every single OP dying to an explosive lance. So.

Nukers aren't supposed to stay around for long enough to get swarmed, they're supposed to strike and kill or at least strike and hide before they strike again.

Does the shielded robe/hardsuit protect against explosions? if it doesnt it should, it would make it a more attractive purchase.

My experience dealing with lmgs typically involve casually walking through a hallway and getting instacritted by an op spraying from the other side of the station, it may have its drawbacks but it hardly seems fair when you're on the receiving end

No less fair then getting fireballed by a wizard who blinked into the room or getting 2 hit critted by a deswording madman.

The fact is that getting killed by most antagonists isn't meant to be "fair", since they are often fighting the weight of numbers arrayed against them. If everyone had a fair chance of killing a nukie in a straight fight the mode would sit at 0% winrate by pure virtue of 4-6 nukies vs 30-80 crew

You have far from unlimited ammo when using the SAW, you pay 6TC for every 50 bullets.

No corridor is that long and it takes quite a distance for a weapon of the LMG caliber to start suffering deceleration and less damage as the bullet travels.

I wouldn't blame the ops for having powerful gear when the average op team is 5 vs 60 and here in tgstation every one of those persons can and just possibly will try their hardest to take you down with anything from a taser gun to instagib spears.
Even if said powerful gear will instacrit in one burst.

None of the other guns can do worse then a stun and high damage though, including c20r. The DPS on an LMG is insane, and the armor pen bullets are an immediate crit, armor or not, if the burst hits you (if you're hit by one in the burst, it's almost always going to hit all three).

I've seen ops with this thing clear out entire rooms of crew without reloading, which the same can't reasonably be said about the c20r or the shotgun.

Bullet armor doesnt do shit due to the stupid amount of armor pen all ballistic weapons have by default.

Armor pen was a mistake, armor is only good for storage space at the moment.

Unrelated to the thread I know, but I would love to see armor pen on ranged weapons be removed across the board and keep it for melee weapons so they have a niche or something.

Takes 2 hands to fire, can't store it in your bag, exosuit storage, back slot or belt slot. Utter pain to reload. Costs as much as a desword (without any of the block) or a C20 and bullpup combined, not to mention how damn expensive the ammo can be.

Everybody defending the SAW because it's high commitment:

Why not give the ops a 300 TC instantly obtain the disk button? Or a 300 tc mech that can't be damaged in any way except by pulse lasers?

Just because something is high commitment doesn't mean you can put it at a power level that the station cannot fucking deal with.

Losing is part of the game.
Your character will frequently die, sometimes without even a possibility of avoiding it. Events will often be out of your control. No matter how good or prepared you are, sometimes you just lose.
