Permanent atmos field generators

Post by JusticeGoat » #444160

A machine you can build on the floor like a AI holo emitter that emits a field like the atmos holo projectors but it draws power from the rooms apc. With this you can have real bay doors for cargo shuttles.

Yeah a air shield that allows you to pass though would be cool, just help you god if the power runs out the room loses air much faster.

Atmos holoshields don't block movement iirc. Kinda limited on the number of them you can have up, though.

Yes but having upgraded fire locks that automatically make the force-field when tripped would be a fun thing to add for both mapping and engineers. It would be something for people to actually build.

sure you can print out a shitload of holo projectors but that is lame, having an easy to set up machine that can be wrenched down would be nice.

Could be good if it were far along in techwebs maybe, or available to mappers. I've definitely wanted it for shuttle bay doors.

I've been meaning to sprite something for this for fucking ages but I've not got around to it

mainly 'cause I'm undecided on exactly what it should look like, I mean the classic look for this sort of thing would be like the shuttle bays in star trek or the access corridor in elite

but I'm unsure whether to draw it as like a line (like directional windows and windoors) or as a fulltile thing

Fill tile like a window, with connected texture if there's more than one, visuals like the image your referenced (frame with a glowing force field highlighting the edges) imo

Just use the holo-firelock that already exists but add a metal rig around it to act like a projector. So basically just combo an open firelock sprite with the firelock holo.
