Ditto. There was a Tolkien related one I played back in the day that had felinids. Hell even a mech warrior MUD that had people with different traits. Vulpine like ears and such.

I’m curious are there polls that we can compare this to? What’s the average response on polls and such. Is there an INCREASED number that participated in this specific poll I.e. 300 more users participated in this poll than any other etc...

What's funny is that it was the exact opposite among the admin team, they were arguing that it was too close to call and that I should not merge the revert without a majority, but as soon as the poll was finished it was a done deal and I should close the PR

Oh no, I knew the vote had a chance of going somewhere. Cat people add nothing to the game, but they don’t really take anything away, so in the end I chose my vote based on the one argument that I thought had a shred of persuasive value.

Whether the vote is ratified or not is more a matter of administration at this point.

Reenabling Catpeople on Sybil seems an odd choice. Wouldn't it make more sense to keep em disabled until the (fifty third) upcoming vote to try and plactate both sides?

the last time this happened all it did was move the cat players on sybil to bagil and drop sybil's pop for a while

If a feature is popular in a community and there is one server in the community where it is hosted on people will flock to the server to get that

it's idiotic and it satisifies nobody while exacerbating population inflation during highpop on bagil

It might not seem bad but having one server at 120-140 players and the other at 40-60 is creating an issue that is worse than cats

Even if the change gets reverted people don't like to migrate servers every other week or month repeatedly to the lower population one

Having both servers have different pops is probably for the best anyway, variety is nice in retrospect. You make migrating servers sound hard when I bet I could play both servers at once if I wanted.

The choice is simple, remove cats from sybil and enable them on bagil.

The only place where any sort of species data is saved (as far as I know) is in the round_end_report.json. Parsing this into any sort of statistic would require more effort than I'm willing to expend.

EDIT: That effort being scraping all the round_end_report.json files from /parsed-logs/, formatting every entry in it to something I can insert into a database, and actually inserting it.

Last time catgirls were disabled on Sybil it was the high pop server and around the same time the shift went to bagil becoming high pop.

There were multiple factors that lead to it probably. Catgirls were one.

That said as far as I understand there's not many catgirls on Sybil, it's mostly lizards there.

It's like how I can still be a lavaland dwarf by putting together the fucking sprites for them while coloring them.

The closest thing post this PR would be kitty ears (without admins at least).

Luckily (?) most admins probably don't know how.

More accurately speaking, historically speaking cats were disabled on the more popular, less RP type server, however since that's no longer the case with Sybil what's the point of disabling them there instead of on the more popular, less RP server where there's more dislike for cats?
I'd rather have cats removed, but since I only play on the current high player count server, I get nothing from having cats removed on the low player server I don't play. I also am not moving to Sybil just because the headmins said "if you guys don't like this so much just move somewhere else" because while I'd rather not have cats I'm not going to give myself a less enjoyable experience over it.

Also the shitty uninspired nature of catpeople has actually proved annoying several times especially when playing as the AI, where I can't examine people so when trying to assist someone being detained by a cat sec officer (who had no helmet so i couldn't tell if it was fake cat ears or not), the sec officer claimed "i'm not a cat", and how could I know at the time whether they were lying or not? Another time I had my borg ordered to get a rogue cat CMO, when my borg told me the CMO was wearing fake cat ears and wasn't actually a cat. Imagine having a species so shitty and unoriginal that just putting on a hat makes it unclear as to whether or not you are that species, imagine if it were like that for lizards or moths or flies, where you just put on a cosmetic item and suddenly you look indistinguishable from a lizard. I couldn't because lizards are at least unique design-wise and something like that would have to change their whole body.

Not at all, it's actually really important to know sometimes
What if the possible no human counter-orders you? If they aren't a human, following the order breaks your laws.
What if they're harming a human in front of a borg but the only way to stop them immediately is lethals because it's flash is burnt out?
What if they're being harmed by sec in front of a borg but sending the borg to help would risk its life?
