Got caught in the explosion - say goodby to some of your items
You are a borg - tough luck, youll need module reset(or your cell broke and you are ded, or your MMI broke and you are gone for good)
Admins griff station with mass explosive vines - gg no re, everyone will be naked for the rest of the round

Uh... no they haven't. The only explosion before this that could destroy items was a PDA bomb... or being flatout gibbed in an explosion.

I noticed a PR is up to fix borg modules being lost and having bomb protection reduce the chance of losing items.

Also, bombs have never destroyed clothing items and equipment that is on a person so long as said person survives the explosions (or just their body).

If explosions now destroy items on your body, I disagree with that change.

In that explosive-vines round most people ended up shoeless. It also exploded a multitool inside my toolbelt but left everything else intact. Kinda odd.

Without that sort of weirdness it might be better.

The game is set up to assume its hard to destroy stuff to the point there is snowflake code for some vital items to prevent it.

Well, it makes sense that things caught in the direct center of the explosion are destroyed - but item destruction shouldn't be in light destruction areas. What's the distance limit to where stuff is destroyed now?

No limit, the smallest of explosions can destroy your shoes or hyperzine pill in the pillbox in the medbelt in the box in the backpack in the boh on your back while not touching anything else

Just to get rid of any confusion. People don't mind that items are destroyed when they are at the epicentre of a explosion, what people are not liking is that items worn by people are being destroyed.

I saw watched a round with a few bombs - Jesus fuck they destroy everything.

One bomb near the brig, two people were in the outer limits of the blast, so they only took a tiny amount of damage/got knocked down for 10 seconds. However pretty much everything they were wearing/had equipped got destroyed.
Another bomb happened near medbay. A guy in deadchat summed it up pretty neatly when he asked >why are we all naked?

This is more silly then new poly melting all your shit, since it's rng and has massive range.
Permanent item destruction like this can be really frustrating for players, as they can lose important items (like traitor objectives) or shit that is simply difficult to replace. Even if you have nothing of particular rarity, it still takes longer then the cloning process just get get back all the shit you lost - potentially on top of getting cloned first.

Also I haven't tested it, but even the possibility of people IED'ing people's clothes off/destroying their weapons(or possibly even shit like space/fire suits) is fucking hilarious.

I was wearing a bluespace bag when a singulo spawned near me. It tore my bag off my back and exploded. This caused my items in each pocket to disappear as well as blew up my ID inside my PDA. This is really frustrating shit, especially since there are many things that gib players (cremation) that don't even break IDs. Being near an explosion (or even within the shockwave of it apparently) should not GGNORE your items. I'm not a fan of this change at all.

I did some minor testing and even just being on the edge of a explosion is sufficient to destroy a large amount of your clothing/items. It's heavily RNG impacted however.

I was a roundstart engiborg and got caught in a vinesplosion. All my modules disappeared, but I was able to choose my borg type again. The tools came back but I couldn't select them. Then I noticed that my power cell was missing, deleted by the explosion. I found a roboticist, he fixed my damage and replaced the power cell but I still couldn't activate my modules. So he deconstructed me, and I suddenly became a ghost because there was no MMI.

Agree with what lumipharon said, I really dislike this change and wish it would be reverted. Destroying items might be realistic, but running in spare pajama with no ID for the rest of the round is definately not entertaining.

I got hit with a welding tank explosion while fully kitted out as engineer, and it deleted my PDA, rigsuit helmet, full toolbelt, full backpack, both pockets, mask, suit storage oxygen tank, gloves, jumpsuit, and mesons. Bit excessive.

Even 'minor' explosions will totally remove shit from you. Fireball, among others, but IMO most annoyingly, Detomax PDA explosions will COMPLETELY STRIP YOU.

For 6(?) telecrystals you can remotely remove most items of clothing from a person, including what was inside their pockets. I'm sure it'll be hilarious when some chucklefuck buys 3 of them and goes to town every time somebody is holding something slightly important.

Annoyance aside it's a pretty funny bug/lame feature

I was in an explosive space vine round with this up. I walked into maint to clear a secondary path to escape. Vines exploded on me destroying my air tank, my face mask, my shoes, and my pda/ID. Thus leaving me without light or oxygen in an airless maint shaft that I could not escape.

I think that was a bit fucking much.

After the update I made it extended to do a silly event about space vines taking over the station while the players filter back, I didnt know about the change to explosions. The vines were edited to have a higher mutation rate, normally they are not so dangerous.

Not saying that this feature isnt bad though.

The vines were not the problem. It was the damn explosion deleting everything leaving me trapped to die with no way to prevent this.

The bug was introduced in a bugfix for package wrapped c4 not blowing up correctly. No one thought of what would happen when you tell all the things to destroy all the things inside them ad infinitum, whenever an explosion happens.
