Netspeak and word blacklisting

Postby SkeletalElite » Fri Jun 21, 2019 1:27 am #499920

So now that https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/pull/44668 was merged, but is not currently being used. Oranges said anything more about it should be policy discussion.

So my question is, what should and shouldn't be blacklisted if anything at all.

I'd argue something like "wtf" makes sense to be blacklisted as no one actually says the acronym, but theres a different argument to be made about lol and lmao. With lol and lmao I actually hear them pronounced like words more often than I do just saying the letters and it's not unusual for someone to say them in a regular conversation. There's an argument to be made that this is 500 years in the future and people don't talk like that anymore, but I don't see why they wouldn't and that's a bit of slippery slope, this is still a game being played by people in 2019 afterall.

Edit: When you and nevere both post pretty much the same thread within a minute of each other
