[NecromancerAnne] Someone12341

Post by Someone12341 » #501013

Byond account and character name: Someone12341, Bennet McIntosh

Banning Admin: NecromancerAnne

Ban type (What are you banned from?): Server Ban

Ban reason and length: Tried to steal the ID from a plasmaman and shoved him onto a table, while he was braindead and a freshspawn. This resulted in him nearly dying while braindead. I had to intervene to resolve the situation. Straight up killing someone who just arrived on station is completely unacceptable, especially if it's just to tide. Length: 1 day. Round ID 111638.

Server you were playing when banned (Sybil or Bagil): Bagil

Your side of the story: Alright so, I won't try to say I didn't steal that guy's ID while he was braindead, because that's what I did, but that's the only thing I did. I didn't do anything to the plasma man after this. You say I shoved him onto a table, but this never happened. I did shove a different, non braindead assistant, onto a table earlier in the round though. In fact, you bwoinked me with "Someone12341/(Bennet Mcintosh) has shoved Angelstarri/(Andrea Mcloskey) with onto the reinforced table (table) (NEWHP: 100)" and ignored me when I replied that this was not a plasma man. Thus, I had nothing to do with his death.

Why you think you should be unbanned: If stealing an ID from a braindead man is a ban worthy reason, then alright, but this ban reason was stated to be because I killed the plasma man, when nothing I did affected whether he died or not.

The logs definitely bear out that they only took their ID, im not sure why he's being blamed for their death.
Gasping starts before he strips them

[2019-06-26 20:54:52.763] EMOTE: (snip)/(Stimulum X) gasps! (Arrival Shuttle (136, 25, 13))

And they were already almost dead

[2019-06-26 20:55:34.244] ATTACK: Someone12341/(Bennet Mcintosh) has stripped Stimulum X's ID Card (Atmospheric Technician) off (snip)/(Stimulum X) (NEWHP: 37) (Arrival Shuttle (48, 137, 2))

Seems like Plasmaman forgot to enable their internals

While the icon incorrectly shows that internals are turned off, a plasmaman's internals are always on when arriving. It would have to be manually turned off

I had another look into the logs and it would seem I got this one wrong. I can't find in the raw logs any evidence of Bennet actually removing the tank, or causing any attack that would have resulted in him losing his tank in-hand. I thought he might have been responsible but as it turns out the plasmaman was already dying at the time of him stripping the Id off him, and I misread some attack logs. Somehow, the plasmaman's internals some other way, and that might have been such as him unbuckling and immediately DC'ing, causing him to drop his tank. But likely it wasn't anything Bennet himself was responsible for.

So, I feel I should apologize for the hasty ban. That said, I will probably merely alter this to a warning about not messing with afks on the arrival shuttle. That's still not kosher, but at least you didn't nearly kill the guy.
