so yeah i think the biggest flaw of lings is that they're just fucking monsters

im thinking like remove/nerf the abilities like armblade/fleshmend/maybe tentacle?

also add some cool nice not-that-aggressive abilities in their stead, one idea I had was give lings a passive ability which drains a ton of chemicals while active, but if they are hit they spawn those mirror shield projections

idk thoughts gib

i've been working on thinglings to where all of their murders would be overwhelmingly in their favor (slightly less if you bring burn weapons like welders) but only in 1v1 scenarios, and each kill leaves behind evidence of a changeling that cannot be cleaned up by the monster


the intent is to keep the changeling picking his battles and something people are always hunting down

I've thought of some stealthy/fuckery ideas like faking symptoms or how burned/bruised they are on inspect, or even mimicking sounds like flashes,eswords,bombs etc.

I still want lings to be forced to transform into their latest victim until they manually unlock transform, so they have to engage with disguises.

we keep trying the "good in 1v1 but not multiple people" design and it seems like the abilities are really strong for just 1v1 or they just get steamrolled.

give lings social anxiety, they cant activate arm blade if there are too many people

imo make the non stealth oriented abilities have visual and or audio tells. The ones I had in mind were fleshmend, the shrieks, maybe adrenals and strained muscles. Basically if a ling decides to fight and uses those abilities, you’ll know they’re for sure a ling. To preserve their stealth they’d have to avoid using their combat abilities.

fleshmend shouldnt even be a combat ability, it works better as a stealth ability. you should have to stand still for a while to use it or it should not work if you've taken damage too recently

Fleshmend already has one if you examine them. An actual effect would be nice though
