[<Dezupher>] <Bumbo Whumbus> - Banned for CE Delams

Post by nutskeet » #550446

BYOND account: nutskeet

Character name: Bumbo Whumbus

Ban type: Server

Ban length: Permanent

Ban reason: I'm including an image of the ban reason, I'm having trouble selecting the text for copy/paste.

Time ban was placed: 2020-03-19 11:02:21

Server you were playing on when banned: Manuel

Round ID in which ban was placed: 132570

Your side of the story: First I want to explain leaving before the admin got on, I don't want anyone to think I didn't want to talk to the admin handling the case. I play at work as my overnight position allows me to in my freetime, and I had been dead and hadn't seen an admin on for a little bit. It got a little busy at work, ( I work at a hotel, morning time is when people start leaving, and with COVID, I have to take extra steps and time with them ) so I had to pack up my laptop for the shift and finish out work before clocking out. I normally don't play at home as I have a 6 month old baby so its full time in itself, that. As far as the delaminations go, the first was purely accidently. I had no clue the SM underwent code changes and I set up my famous CO2 engine that I normally always setup. It arcs and puts off pretty lights, outputs a TON of power, and even catches fire but stays at like 3k degrees and 100% integrity, even repairing itself against sabotage sometimes. I was so genuinely confused that I even icc occked that round and formally apologized for not knowing and ruining a shift. The other two delams, I was working with the borg ANTENNA(?I think that was the name?) and we were starting of slow with basic text book N2 setups then working into tritium engines. Again, with the changes, somewhere we messed up and it got out of hand. The AI was mucking with the air alarms throughout which was also not helping things. Long story short, I am a very competent engineer with over 1200hours across many servers of engineering, mostly TG code base. The code changes threw me off and things spiraled downword. I mean hell, even on the third round, I did the most basic setup following the wiki how-to guide, and it just caught on fire and sy rocketed to 30000 degrees.

Why you think you should be unbanned: I believe I should be unbanned because the delams weren't intentional by any means. They were the setups I normally always do and have done for over a year now that have always been amazingly stable and self healing. I think it was just bad on my part, playing CE, and not noticing code changes. If I am unbanned, I will thoroughly overlook the SM changes and adjust my setups on private server accordingly to be 100% foolproof before bringing them to live.

References of good conduct: Recently I have only been on TG, I played on Bee for a while, but many people I knew that would be able to vouch for me have left when the whole "Nword ban" caused an uproar in the community. I do however have one admin that is on Beestation still and has seen how ridiculous yet stable my engine setups can be, pushing it to the limits and keeping it safe at the same time. Their name is RukoFamicom.

I'm having a very difficult time believing any of the delaminations were accidental like you claim.

It's worth noting before we dive into logs, that the SM changes you're referring to, had already been reverted during these rounds. https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/pull/50031

Let's start with each of them in order, here's how the first delamination went.
Spoiler:

08:19:38 [0x2011a15] (100,178,2) || the air injector was turned on by Nutskeet/(Bumbo Whumbus)
The very first thing you do is remove the pipe straight from the Co2 supply and place an injector straight into the SM chamber. You then set the round start N2 filter to Co2 and don't turn on or touch any of the other filters. This isn't good, as now the SM has no exhaust for the other gas and won't be doing too well. And THEN you remove the scrubbers pipe. The very last thing you do AFTER the SM has reached the emergency point, was to place and turn on another air injector straight into the SM chamber.
None of this is good, and it paints a very clear picture of an intentional Tesla delam. You even went so far as to remove the scrubbers pipe shortly before activating the second pure Co2 injector, to undoubtedly over pressure the engine.

Now the second round was less clear. From what I can tell, you had attempted to make a tritium setup. But when the engine started to delam you made the situation as worse as possible.

You fought with the borg who was attempting to fix the engine over the gas filters, eventually causing the engine to explode into a Tesla.

And finally, the third round, where the engine delammed into a Singularity.

I'd like to point out that NO setup guide to the SM involves replacing the inlet or putting a injector INSIDE the SM chamber. And you also had replaced the N2 atmos pumps, clearly meant to deliver ALOT of N2 to the engine.

Here you fight with the AI over the engine air alarm.

The AI is trying to siphon the excess gas, and you're setting the scrubbers to regular scrubbing, rather than siphoning.
If you really have as much engineering experience as you say, then you know very well what you were doing.

None of this was a "by the wiki" setup.

You caused the engine to delaminate three times in a row, causing it turn into a Tesla or Singularity in all three rounds and every delam looked intentional.
I'm standing by my ban and denying this appeal.

I would like to point out that with how the current engine works, it's practically impossible to "accidentally" cause a singularity.

It's worth noting that the sm has had 2 major changes to co2 setups in the last 6 months. The most recent one changed the effects of zaps, this is of little importance here.
The second one changed how power loss is calculated, which is what co2 directly effects. That was in November, so depending on how long ago you last played it could have bit you in the ass.

I accept your judgement and decision and respect your response. I regret that I will no longer be able to play on TG since the ban is perma. I wish everyone luck in all their games and hope its a great time hence forth. I am sorry for any trouble I may have caused.

See you in spess, cowboy.
