[Thunder12345] - GorgleBing - Admin sanctioned cascade
Server - Manuel
Name - GorgleBing (Abigail Rhinehart)
Admin - Thunder12345
Round ID - 233491
Summary - Some individual(s) attempted to cascade the SM, failed, then Admin stepped in to ensure cascade event was seen to (almost) completion. My character as well as my character's colleague get into Durands to attempt to stop the cascade event from happening, as in an MRP server, death is not exactly a desirable outcome for the character (usually). Although watching giant piss rock consume the entire universe is cool, I am not too sure about a roleplay character watching it destroy everything is ideal. Admin proceeds to mass spawn huge crowbars on my head and blow up my mech, claiming the storm of crowbars was a "warning" and that I should "try to take the hint." Proceeds to mark as IC issue. I understand that people want to have their fun, but that fun shouldn't be at the expense of others, especially on a low threat shift (yellow star). An MRP server should be a good mix of fun and roleplay, but this event felt out of place in a roleplay scenario, considering those who wished to not die were met with punishment from an admin, and not crew intervention.

This was an ongoing event you had plenty notice was going on, there were CentCom announcements about there being a cascade research team. It wasn't a one-off incident either, you interfered with their SM setup, to my knowledge, on at least three occasions.
To be clear, virtually everyone else was either actively participating, cheering them on, or disinterested enough not to involve themselves either way. Your fun repeatedly smashing their setup was in fact taking place at the expense of everyone participating in the event, which is the exact reason I intervened.GorgleBing wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 4:22 pm I understand that people want to have their fun, but that fun shouldn't be at the expense of others, especially on a low threat shift (yellow star).

Use Event Workshop for critique and ideas, use admin feedback to talk about a specific admin's events, and use singulo to bitch. Remember you can also talk to any admin by adminhelping, finding an admin you trust and PMing them or in #supportbus.

To be clear I started the event and other admins helped or gave suggestions. Thunder acted as part of the event but without my instructions, but any complaints to the original event should go to me, though as quoted events themselves are not really complainable.

Regardless, I still don't think admin intervention like that was entirely necessary. The mechs were already facing a lot of EMP related issues with the cascade event ongoing, and should others wish that the other robo and I NOT disrupt what was going on, mechs are easily destroyed when ganged up on. If I was to, say, punch down the plasteel wall in the SM chamber venting all the gases and ACTUALLY sucking all of the fun out of it, then I would 100 percent agree with the intervention. Bottom line is, I am not necessarily upset with the "event," I am upset with the response taken.
(Sorry dunno how forums really work mechanically so my posts are kinda not pretty)

To give feedback on specific admin events use: viewforum.php?f=37 and comment your issues on dax Dupont and/or Thunder's feedback threads.

hello,
we will be investigating this complaint to see if it breaks admin conduct beyond what is necessary to ensure an event runs smoothly.
if it is the case where these actions were taken in the context of an event, it is unlikely to lead to an official sanction. in that case, feedback is just as valuable. admins care about feedback a lot, as it is their reputation as gamerunners. as headmins we also keep a close eye on feedback and have discussions with them about concerning negative experiences, even if it doesn't lead to an official sanction.
we will update this thread following the results of our investigation.
thanks!

Hey, after taking a couple of days to let this ruminate I’m inclined to agree that I overreacted in this case.
Having to make a very quick judgement call while you were breaking into the engine, the earlier talk about mechs breaking in and sabotaging the setup, Dax hurriedly arming the engineers the previous time you broke in, and repeated past experiences with players going out of their way to fuck up events for the hell of it led me to come to the impression that you were one of those cases, and that the others present thought the same way.
In hindsight this was the wrong conclusion to reach, and I apologise for exploding you as a result. I’m going to take the L on this one, and have dispatched a minion fellow admin armed with a two day ban for the two people who died as a result.
