The Defender

The Defender is a combat caste, focused on being the "tank" of any group of tier 1 xenos, and one of the most lethal xenos at tier 1.

As a Defender, you take more hits to kill than any other xeno at tier 1, so don't be afraid to step in and take a bullet for one of your sisters that is bleeding.

It is important for a defender to be able to combo its abilities together efficiently, or your damage and or capture potential will be severely limited.

Playing the Defender

As a Defender, you will be able to harass marines more efficiently than any other tier 1 besides the Sentinel. Work together with a sentinel and or Carrier, and you will be able to capture an inordinate amount of marines for the hive. A Defiler is also a wonderful xeno to work with, due to your ability to knock people down; Knocking marines down in the Defiler's Neurotoxin Gas clouds will render them stun-locked, giving the defiler plenty of time to Defile sting the marines.

Maturity Statistics and Evolution Paths

Defenders are born to evolve into Warriors and then eventually Crushers.
Maturity increases stats as follows.

  • Slash is the melee damage when the xenomorph is in harm intent and slashing marine. In the code, it's melee_damage.
  • Melee, bullet, laser, energy, bomb, bio, rad, fire, and acid are soft armor values, not hard armor, which means that they reduce damage by a percentage rather than a flat value.

This ability is used to rest and get up, you will heal faster when resting on weeds. Easy N/A
Regurgitate.png
Regurgitate
Regurgitate does exactly what it sounds like. Expels the contents of your stomach onto the current tile. To consume someone, grab them then click on your sprite, and stand still. Easy N/A

Headbite
This ability is used to remove the brain of a downed marine, allowing for a quick execution. Takes 10 seconds to pull off. Braindead 100
Crest defense.png
Crest Defense
Lowers your crest, slightly increasing your defense, at the cost of agility. Medium N/A
Fortify.png
Fortify
Squat your body down and tuck your head down into your torso, exposing only the hardest parts of your exoskeleton. Greatly increases defense. Medium N/A
Tail sweep.png
Tail Sweep
Does a 360 degree tail sweep in a 1 tile radius all directions from your current tile, knocking marines over and back. Easy N/A
Headbutt.png
Headbutt
Use your hard crest to headbutt a marine, sending them flying in the direction you hit them Medium N/A

Defender tips & tricks

  • Always try to eat bullets for your xeno buddies.
  • If you're just purely tanking for the boiler, hit that FAT fortify.
  • If you're covering other xeno's retreat, HIT THAT FAT CREST BUTTON
