Located spinward of the Core Sectors, the Spinward Sector may no longer be humanity's frontier, but it is still a wild west filled with opportunity... and danger.

The Exodus

The Spinward Sector was settled earlier than some of its surrounding regions, due to the actions of the Third Soviet Union. Following their exodus from Earth, the neo-bolsheviks of the Union sought a place to make their new communist utopia, eventually settling on the planet of New Moscow. Originally charted some 100 years prior, New Moscow would go on to become the centre of the burgeoning Third Soviet state, and this would draw further attention to the region. When the Union eventually collapsed, the instability in the region would attract TerraGov, who would incorporate the region as part of human space, but not as a full member state of the federation- instead leaving governing to the independent Spinward Stellar Coalition.

The Sector has settled down notably since the collapse of the Union, with the frontier moving forward to the March Sector on the border with the Lizard Empire, and this newfound stability has attracted both the attention of TerraGov, and of corporations. A number of Enterprise-Charters have been issued to megacorporations for the area in cooperation with the SSC, which has led to a gold rush amongst these large companies. Most notable amongst these competitors are Nanotrasen, who has discovered a large haul of plasma on Indecipheres just on the edge of the sector, and Cybersun Industries who seek to contest that claim. Unfortunately for the residents of the region, TerraGov's interest has not yet extended to enforcement in the SSC, which has allowed this conflict between Nanotrasen and Cybersun to boil over into a true war.

The remnants of the Third Soviet Union continue to cause problems, even decades on from the collapse. Although their attacks become less frequent with every passing year as true believers die or move on, they still pose a threat to the average civilian via terroristic action and attacks against the government.
