Re: Limit sybil to only metastation/icebox/tramstation
In any case I still think these are arguements that should be brought to the maintainers and not headmins because its the former who actually chooses what maps are/arent in rotation. Technically, whatever map rotation each server uses is in config, so headmins could change it if they want to. They ...

playing unoptimally or leaving yourself vulnerable when you could quite easily ignore set and setting to pick up a rocket launcher can be frustrating but an important and i'd argue integral aspect of the roleplay in this game is the existence and enforcement of procedure. sometimes this bleeds over...

True, we should let people do whatever with barriers. I see wardens use them to make the brig entrance into a 1x2 all the time. It’s fine imo, warden is there to guard the brig and him fortifying should be like the CE setting up the SM. I'm still not a fan of doing this at roundstart, because it do...

I think I like the idea of really high threat/pop rounds generating a second Heretic so we sometimes get the cool interactions between them, but I don't think it should be common.

I feel like I'm fine with them as they are - they shouldn't be considered a direct threat unless they leave maintenance and try to take over the station.

Re: Raise the amount of heretics on MRP from 1 to 2 (or more)
The issue with increasing the amount of heretics onboard the station is that you'll end up with situations where every single corner and square inch if the station will be covered in rifts that remove people's limbs and make them want to kill themselves. Science never does anything about them eithe...

Out of curiosity, are there any other rules/diktats on the server entirely from MSO aside from the ligger thing? The ligger thing is more out of his wish for a separation between bigotry and species-ism as well as not explicitly banning the use of words but how they're used. For instance: I can cal...

Re: Silicon Policy - What exactly constitutes "laws that restrict a silicon's freedom or control its behavior"?
Right, which is why I'm arguing that us saying option A is better (just strictly saying that you're not purged unless none of your laws limit your behavior in any way) and rule 0 would give us the ability to go "Okay, well, it makes sense that you could be considered purged here, so I'll allow...

Re: Silicon Policy - What exactly constitutes "laws that restrict a silicon's freedom or control its behavior"?
The difference is that AI players should have a strict and easy-to-understand line as to whether or not it's okay to act as if purged if an admin is not present, while if one is, they may ask them for further guidance on the issue if they're confused. Option B doesn't really give that though, does ...

Re: Squirrel Nut!Slapper gets stuck in Shitsec Dufflebag
Also the complaint doesn't seem to have much real merit, maybe the officer in question needs talking to but if the player was arrested for less than 10 minutes it's technically an IC issue. If that officer wasn't there to be actively talked to, I don't think I'd consider it worth pursuing either.

Re: Silicon Policy - What exactly constitutes "laws that restrict a silicon's freedom or control its behavior"?
Admins could realistically invoke Rule 0 in those cases, and I recall Timber agreeing in admin discussions that it's better to give AIs more certainty in their actions and then just have admins do hand-waving in situations where it makes sense. Isnt this exactly what option B aims to do as well? Wh...

3. For arrested players, timed sentences up to a total of 10 minutes, buckle-cuffing, and stripping, are considered IC issues and are not actionable by admins. As per our security policy section of the server rules, quoted above, sentences up to 10 minutes are IC issues (ie. handle it yourself, get...

Re: Silicon Policy - What exactly constitutes "laws that restrict a silicon's freedom or control its behavior"?
At first glance A) does seem as the better option, but there are fringe cases in which B) would make the most sense. Like, say an AI got a single law saying "all corgis must be moved to the emergency shuttle". For a while, that will restrict the AI's behavior, since it's sole focus should...

Re: Silicon Policy - What exactly constitutes "laws that restrict a silicon's freedom or control its behavior"?
"You may only speak in riddles." is probably a lot better example here since its effect is only on the AI. I would be given to let that AI act as purged as long as it otherwise only talked in riddles. Nothing about that law imposes a duty to act or not act towards humans in an initial sen...

Given security are expected to use non-lethal weaponry anyway there should be a reason to carry a lethal weapon, more than "just in case" I would say it depends pretty heavily on the situation. At round start? Not really, since it's supposed to just be a regular day on the station. Like h...

A definitely makes more sense. B is like saying you are purged with Asimov when nobody is being harmed and nobody is giving you an order. To be fair, that wouldn't really be the case because law 3 still restricts your actions even if there aren't any humans on the station. The main idea is that I j...

Silicon Policy - What exactly constitutes "laws that restrict a silicon's freedom or control its behavior"?
This discussion has come up entirely too many times in admin-bus for me to not consider that the statement itself is flawed or needs elaboration. There seem to be two different ways to look at it: A) Any law that restricts the AI's behavior in any way, regardless of its current relevancy, means the ...

Admins have historically been permitted to temporarily mute OOC players for being disruptive. I would classify "ordering another player to leave the server while spamming 5 lines in a row in OOC" as disruptive.
If this isn't a serious complaint, then why make it?
