Re: /tg/ Github Suspended Megathread
If the repo does return, I hope someone sets up a bot that maintains a local copy. Also, while writing this comment, I did a quick search regarding repo backups, and discovered that there are both third-party tools for maintaining such an archive, and existing third-party archives of all of github. ...

Re: A question about how we color custom foods, and an idea.
It is possible to read pixels from an icon, but I doubt it would be worth the performance cost, and there are too many edge cases to handle (animations, movies, color var, underlays, overlays, alpha, directional states?) Besides, when the colours average to something bland, a human can recognize not...

Re: What do you think you're known for? (egothread)
While *I'm* probably effectively unknown (haven't played much in years, and even then it was mostly rare occasions on baystation), the notorious ghost of some of my code lingers on in the transit tubes. More astoundingly, it looks like my icons for them survived, implying that it is either somehow a...

Code-wise, it would be fairly easy to cover objects with an image() shown only to specific players, and messages would probably be easy to alter depending on who observes an action. It might also be possible to use PLANE_MASTER to make specific items fully transparent and ignore the mouse only for s...

Dwarf Fortress, IN SPAAAAAAACE!! urge to make the preceding into TVTropes links... I'd imagine a resource management game, using semi-autonomous characters similar to DF. Assign jobs based on character ability scores, designate department work areas (and optionally assign specific characters to them...

Re: Admin Music Request Thread
BYOND also supports a number of module-based file formats, which can be (not necessarily are) quite small while still providing decent music. I think that it works similar to MIDI, but instead of using whatever instruments the listener's OS provides, each file contains the audio samples it uses. Esp...

Re: Equipment Upgrade Kits (EUK)
There's the more powerful MapColors, if just multiplying the original icon by something isn't enough to produce the desired gold colour.
I have no idea how well known it is these days, so pointing it out in case it's useful.
