Thermal Pistol Rework: The Statusening

Thermal pistols are currently never ordered because they are essentially a direct downgrade of the laser gun, as they deal identical damage but the thermal pistols have lower capacity. Although they have their unique temperature interactions, their inability to change temperature means that this abi...

Re: What exactly is the point of rule 12?

See the inherent problem for this is that this behavior is too vague to actually rule against. Building durands and grabbing sec gear isn't against the rules, so what you're doing is banning people based on what they intend to do with that shit which is impossible to prove. And does building the Du...

Re: What exactly is the point of rule 12?

Plus, the latter two of those cases at least would've been against the rules anyways, to my knowledge. You're already banned from trying to hunt for antags without prior knowledge by rule 4. "Im not hunting antags I'm just walking around in my durand that I can build as part of my job." a...

Re: What exactly is the point of rule 12?

Isn't maximizing your progress towards a given goal literally the definition of powergaming, though? It feels like this is an anti-powergaming rule even if that's not your intention. Plus, the latter two of those cases at least would've been against the rules anyways, to my knowledge. You're already...

What exactly is the point of rule 12?

I just want to ask this because I'm not 100% sure of the reasoning behind it but I am pretty sure that there are better options to solving whatever that problem is.

Why does rule 12 need to exist?

Give purged AIs full antag permissions

Purged AIs are currently required to not be a douche without a good reason, similar to normal crew. At the time this was implemented, the reasoning was that otherwise it became impossible to fix an AI if its laws got fucked up - doing so required purging it briefly, and the mechanics at the time all...

Re: Loosen up thief kill permissions

Aren't you permabanned? Also the idea of thief was to serve as a side antag, minor by rule restriction. This'd be a pretty large change. They ARE minor, too minor too the point they can only react with non-lethals when people want to arrest/Kill them, and non-lethal weaponry is VERY hard to come by...

Re: Loosen up thief kill permissions

I feel like 99% of this is because people don't understand what thieves can and can't do so maybe a more explicit policy somewhere would be nice

Also personally I've never had problems stealing loads of shit as thief, but then I usually play command so maybe that has something to do with this

Re: Loosen up thief kill permissions

I feel I should first note that it's a common misconception that thieves can never kill. They can. It is true that they are not permitted to start by killing. They can't kill people to obtain an item unless they don't have other options, nor can they kill someone just because they feel like it. Usin...

Re: Rule 4 and random grief

This'll be codified soon enough because the headmins will presumably rule on it and it'll get added to Headmin Rulings. Though I'd be up for adding this to the main rules. "Nonantags can do whatever they want to confirmed antags..." etc. I think the adminnotice is also warranted if what Al...

Seems consensus is pretty clear. Hopefully someone can quickly ask Alphonzo on his opinion on this and we can hopefully get an equitable solution for everyone.

Rule 4 and random grief

Recently, I got killed by sec as a heretic despite them not knowing for sure I was one, and I got told that on LRP servers, killing an antag is never punishable no matter what. While I'm OK with the ruling on this one, since the situation was fairly complicated, I do recall that someone got banned f...

Re: Ion law question

According to Silicon Policy, if a law has two possible interpretations you can pick one as long as you stick with it the whole round or until a master AI corrects you. However Rule 1 still applies, so you shouldn't (for instance) kill the Captain just because you decided he's nonhuman without furthe...

Re: Comms agents sniping AIs and cyborgs.

Antags are exempt from rule 1 and so they are perfectly allowed to order silicons to self-terminate. HOWEVER, I do feel that silicons should be allowed to refuse all such orders whether or not they're an antag. Mainly because having to ahelp every time you recieve such an order to ask if it's kosher...

Replace the shuttle buying system with a merit-based shuttle

To elaborate on the title: Remove the ability for the Captain to pick the shuttle, and instead determine the shuttle based on factors that show how well the crew is doing. You could do it on a point system that gets points for things like amount of intact rooms, amount of researched techs, number of...

Re: Mimes talking with emotes = valid?

Talking mimes have been valid for as long as I remember, there's no reason it should be different just because they're using *me to do it.

Granted, there's a valid argument for un-validifying talking mimes but that's for another thread.

Re: Remove Blood Brothers

Why not just add a code/config option (not sure if this is possible in config as of right now) to make blood brothers only spawn if another antag already has, in addition to lowering their cost? This would solve the problem of only BB showing up in a round (as I think we can all agree that BB can't ...

Yeah, I think I can safely say that I've improved as a player, and that such incidents of random grief won't happen again.
I've also read and understood the rules.
