Re: No Man's Sky

Prices rising because of hype is likely due to feature creep and more resources being poured into the project, rather than just upping the price because you can.

That said No Man's Sky costs more and is losing features so fuck this game and that explanation I literally just made.

Re: Utter lack of AI

Giving the traitor a cheap or free way to talk to the AI without anyone knowing would be neat, especially because it would make the concept of a neutral AI really overt and obvious, the fact that a traitor can whisper the AI means that the AI should, on some level, care about this person on a level ...

Re: We should make Hunger more severe

Hunger is a good mechanic for getting people to leave their highly protected individual departmental fortresses to go out and interact with the world. If the chef cant produce enough food, buffing the food they can produce without extreme effort is fine, the point is to make you leave your departmen...

Re: Utter lack of AI

If actually adhered to, Asimov is incredibly traitor-friendly (murderbone notwithstanding). Enforce asimov, and 99% of the problems are gone. Enforcing asimov would require the AI to effectively genocide, enslave, or rerout all the resources of the human race towards something we collectively do no...

Re: Utter lack of AI

The core problem with the AI is that policy has basically permanently put it aligned with the station. It has nothing to do with AI mechanics themselves, though tracking obviously could use small nerfs, or even the playerbase just being jerks. Asimov is a non-functional lawset that is forced to be f...

Re: Turn the AI off for a week

Nearly all of the issues mentioned in this thread would be resolved if admins actually enforced asimov. Enforcing Asimov would require allowing the AI to basically end the round from the get go every round as it in some way or another attempts to convert all of its resources towards an insane goal....

Re: What are you faggots playing?

Engineer is ok s a front line based module defender, who can cause a room to tank by using the major module to soak things. He isn't really amazing but he is one of the few legitimately module focused heroes in the game. While I would argue the others are better, engineer is the only "tank"...

Re: Turn the AI off for a week

Clearly some people failed to understand HG's point. People did. The problem is silicons being on the station's team is basically a rule, meaning an AI who lets an antag out of the brig is not playing the AI correctly, and thus that would make it a problem with the administration, not code or playe...

It is really fun when you have a full lance of players working together and planning stuff out really well.

Re: Turn the AI off for a week

My stance on this issue has always been that AI are a policy problem, not a code issue. It is too closely aligned to the needs of the station and admin intervention with the AI has traditionally focused on enforcing this. What really needs to happen is an AI policy rewrite from the ground up so that...
