What if you make O2 rise from lavaland to jungle, and plasma/N2O/etc sink from jungle to the area below through chasms
While N2 just spreads evenly between the two levels
Then the top would be mostly-habitable, and lavaland would have little/no oxygen and all the toxic shit from the station

if it's set in a jungle, what about some kind of thick, brambly mess which slows movement by a huge amount and does brute over time? Maybe the number of dead could affect the spreading somehow, or it gets faster over time and you have to do some ridiculous ritual to slow it down

Images are kinda big, and interrupt the flow of text. Ideally they'd be smaller, or expandable or something, and on the side of the page so the text can flow around it.
