Feature in search of a purpose, fundamentally broken. The rest of the game was not designed to have on demand pinpoint accurate teleporting. That's not even touching the flaws in the implementation, which mean you have to cheat for it to be useful.

I've contributed on and off to large mods for Paradox games. The speed of development is typically very slow, so it's hard to stay interested.

Skill is everything. A Federation dropship interdicted my barebones fighter, I was able to destroy his engines then his powerplant as he spun helplessly through space.

The combination of the two is the real issue, compounded by the fact that the legitimate use of telescience is already pretty cheesy. Teleporting bombs into the AI core, looting the armory, that sort of thing. A feature in search of a purpose.
