joined the server to get feedback on a change and said hello in OOC, instantly they go "combat mode"
call me thin-skinned, but if I can't even join the server and say hello without an admin being rude about things I've worked on then it really explains why coders play so little.

the notion that "this is easier for new players to understand" is so backwards because of all the hoops you have to go through to do things such as looking at items on a tile the combat's clunky & doesn't feel interesting and i find myself pressing 4 only to turn off combat mode mid-f...

no, moving controls all the time when you change modes is inconsistent inconsistency seems to be an issue w/ some other things, like stun batons. left click should be harm baton, right click for poking with stunnies. that's how pretty much every item works. thats what it originally was and i got to...

Should've been test merged to iron out the problems ahead of time and also to see if it's even good or not to begin with almost nothing would have stopped merging maints from merging this anyways. There's also barely any issues, this would've either been testmerged on all servers for a long time wh...

the reason some traits arent very exciting is because if every round only had exciting traits it'd be less cool to see an excitign trait. The PR in question states that negative quirks were impossible to create despite the fact we have a billion negative quirks and barely any positives, this just made everything harder to balance instead of adjusting the few outliers that were unbalanced just by altering their mechanics. If you have any feedback on the new changes to audio please post them here.
For anyone who hasnt really noticed; the changes are basically:
You hear sound from almost 3 times as far (barring some), and sound falloff was completely re-done

I've had to monitor most of my testmerges atleast for the initial period. Ofcourse someone with VV can misuse it, which is why anyone would be held at even higher standards than an admin in terms of what they use their tools for. Back when I was actively developing this would of been a godsend. Hell, if we could jury rig the testmerge system to automatically pass out debugger when your PR is testmerged, that'd work even better. Now this is a real idea but again some coders really shouldn't have any level of admin powers (no...

this is a bit of a luxury thing more than anything, but I'd like to discuss the idea of having permanent coder/debugger roles on the server for contributors that tend to need a lot of testmerges or often work on fixing runtimes. lately I've had to bother admins a lot to give me perms so I can overse...

how the hell do real devs prevent this from happening (in a way that makes it feel like it isn't a common occurrence)? sure, you can playtest it however if there was a game like this then how the fuck would someone think to playtest "oh yeah chems do IN FACT still work in the stomach lol"...

So here's some info on how the real video game industry works: 1. Developer makes a feature 2. Feature is reviewed by a colleague for any obvious problems and checks the standards of the feature 3. Feature is merged 4. QA testers test the build for any flaws that might have been missed Guess which s...
