Xhuis' plan for Shadowling as a mode is for Ratvar to replace it entirely, so it'll be an even trade instead of +1 conversion modes. You're right. Slicing down a reinforced metal wall using only basic hand tools would absolutely leave jagged, sharp edges that would injure you as you tried to cross, possibly shredding worn items into uselessness. I'll look into adding this so that grilles and walls and more equivalent again.
