Re: Cult Conversion Requiring 3
Good to see blades are being removed, they're a really obvious sign of a cultist that's appeared too often in my experience. Generally, only fools pick them and those fools frequently go on to wreck any sensible cultists' chances.

Re: Shadowlings (Gamemode suggestion/replacement)
Yup, that seems like a decently thought out list of reworked changeling powers from Nalar, with some interesting new ideas. I think 'shadow lance' sounds quite stabby (I'd rather 'shadow lash') but obviously that's a personal taste thing. I'm really not sure about the 'attach as a shadow' thing: fir...

Re: Firefighter ripley improvements
Ten plasteel is in robotics on sybil. Enough to make one ody and one ripley, without much outside help. But yeah, firefighter mechs are...pointless. And it's not as though fires aren't worth fighting, or as though those mechs can't be made quick enough to respond to it. Changing this seems obvious n...

Re: Department Budgets
Yes, this sounds good. But I agree with Paprika that crates need some restructuring. Right now they just seem to be a really inconsistent fallback for when people aren't competent, along with a few powerful extras and a few wacky extras. Maybe competent is the wrong word. But the four most commonly ...

Re: Pet Peeves Thread - Little things that REALLY annoy you
Friendly wizards. Especially if they still need someone dead, and even more if people defend them. Assistants who think the height of comedy is to get actual criminals free. Summon guns/summon magic. Never a fun round. Highly random and therefore boring, there's no sense of control. Chemists who won...

Re: Expectations of Security
Without trying to be passive aggressive about it, I expect the following: Being able to brig someone effectively. It's not that hard, and it prevents a lot of trouble. Stuff like knowing how to cuff, search, remove contraband, store escape objects, and set the time quickly. Being reasonable. I don't...

Re: [POLL] Has Mining update been successful?
Having tried miner for only a few shifts, I hope it's okay to make a judgement compared with the one before. I thought it was alright. I liked the mobs, making mining a bit more dangerous but giving you weapons to counter them. I really liked the points system that incentives you to get better ores ...

Re: Beepsky or those other sec robots
Sometimes you don't have time to explain properly when setting people to arrest, but, assuming the arrest goes okay you can normally explain afterwards why they were set that way. Allowing HUD input certainly wouldn't be a bad thing, although I frequently do find myself filling in the arrest records...

A one-use expanding spacesuit? I like the sound of that. So long as they don't allow you to walk indefinitely, it sounds like a good and thematically appropriate addition.

Re: Mobile MMIs
I too would like these, and look forward to Pete's return. Especially if these Mobile MMIs are able to be entered as ghosts (which, as far as I can tell, is the whole point-get more people back into the round). Perhaps they could gain cleaning functions as well as the stated repair ones, in time: th...

Re: Shadowlings (Gamemode suggestion/replacement)
How about instead of using a light diminisher and a dissonant shriek, both of which are somewhat problematic, you replace both with something similar to the statue's light-flickering ability (though preferably without the blindness). It doesn't fuck over silicons, it gives you time to smash lights, ...

Re: Assistant Overhaul
I like Psy's idea, but particularly because for some jobs you want to learn how to do it without the responsibility of taking someone's place. Departmental assistants who have basic access but need to be let in and out of the specific areas sounds very good. Especially if they're controlled by the d...

Re: Beepsky or those other sec robots
I'd be keen on seeing that. Perhaps it could be a function of the newscaster in the warden's office: that would be another incentive to stay in the brig and help direct security. You only really need the location, though names and infraction levels might be a nice touch.

Re: Shadowlings (Gamemode suggestion/replacement)
I'm not sure about keeping it only at the admin's discretion, largely because that makes it very easy for it to never happen, and then to never get balanced in an enjoyable way. I'd like to see it introduced, if it gets as far as you list of necessary changes goes, as something that spawns after a r...

Re: "Stealth" traitor items.
Why do we make items like this? I imagine it's because the people adding them have different views on what makes a good traitor item. Some people think it should be a totally secret weapon. Some say you should be able to spot it with experience (e.g. noslips examine text). Some are obviously keen on...

Re: Little things you learned that are game changing
As a borg, and presumably as an alien larva as well (haven't tested this) you can remove buckles, cuffs, and so on simply by typing 'resist'. The fact a button isn't there doesn't mean the option isn't available. Next time someone scores a petty victory like that, let them think they've won, then af...

Re: "It's silicon policy time!" "No CentCom no!"
I like the policy so far. I think it's well thought out and very sensible. Easily understood, too. However, I think it's worth asking a few questions to test that last point. Is it allowed for a borg to specifically seek certain orders? And can borgs ever ignore orders they're not equipped to carry ...

I've ERP'd as an MMI, with a fellow MMI, in the ruins of the AI core. We did it because we thought it would be funny and entertaining. It was.

Re: Shadowlings (Gamemode suggestion/replacement)
I agree that it was a fantastic event, and well worth making into something bigger. You've nailed it when you said that the key was keeping people in the round and getting people to fear the dark. I am slightly hesitant as a result about taking the husked participants and (a) making them unable to c...
