Ebows
I personally don't think this change was bad. Given the old recharge rate, I think this was technically an increase in rate of fire.

Re: Ebows
Reminder that Hotkey mode "only" shortcuts can be used outside of Hotkey mode by prefixing the shortcut with "Ctrl"
eg. Tapping Z for attack_self() (reload on most guns) can be done outside of hotkey mode with Ctrl+Z

I turned traitor on because I wanted to try making a c4+syndiebombcore assembly and I've gone like a week where literally my only antag has been 4 cult rounds. Someone's gotta fill me in on this.

Re: Ebows
It went from 10 to 15 toxin (large bow is 20).
So that's 3 less shots to crit - not a huge amount, but it does make a difference.

Re: Ebows
Why would you need to CTRl-Z? that's clunky. Just shift your hand up off the arrow keys and hit page-down

There is one great outcome from this: I rised up the blood pressure of some of you shitheads and lowered your lifespan. I'm honestly tempted to do this more often just to see you screech and writhe more, but that wouldn't be cool of me. So come on haters, show me some more of your high blood pressure please.

Re: Ebows
We should not be balancing the game around clunky controls, we should return the ebows to the older style of it being a semi-automatic weapon and balance accordingly.

Re: Ebows
To be honest the old e-bow was completely fine, it was used but not overused. It was a powerful weapon but expensive and did not outright kill. The changes were completely unnecessary.Steelpoint wrote:We should not be balancing the game around clunky controls, we should return the ebows to the older style of it being a semi-automatic weapon and balance accordingly.

Re: Ebows
Problem with the old ebow was you could spam several shots in quick succession, drop the entire security team, then just bomb them, esword them or pick one off to drag away. It really should be a slightly clunkier weapon used for dropping someone quickly and quietly.

You say that like security can't fight back or react in time. If someone could actually robust everyone like this then holy shit that's awesome traitors are actually a threat in the right hands like they should be.Stickymayhem wrote:Problem with the old ebow was you could spam several shots in quick succession, drop the entire security team, then just bomb them, esword them or pick one off to drag away. Re: Ebows
I think I've logged in 5,000+ times here and I don't think I've ever seen this happen, at least anything more spectacular than "I shot one officer, started to drag him off, then stunned another officer who came to help"... which I mean, that sounds fucking fine to me. Ebows are almost 50% of your TC and they used to have the same functionality as a taser ( used to be shorter stun, more versatility), for an antagonist that sounds just goddamn fine given the shit-shape traitors are in right now.Stickymayhem wrote:Problem with the old ebow was you could spam several shots in quick succession, drop the entire security team, then just bomb them, esword them or pick one off to drag away. Yea you could stun multiple sec, but traitors almost never have decent followup. If you stuck around to kill one, the other would be hot on your ass and it was pretty much suicide to engage that much security unless its super lowpop and there are no reinforcements/borgs to come intervene.
Honestly though, I'd rather we just stick with a more single-shot approach to the ebow, manual reloading is gonna be shit because either you have powergaymen like me using hotkeys to do it as fast as possible or you get poor scrubs who get one shot off and then are baffled as to how to keep firing and die. We now have Stetchkins and Revolvers for semi-auto lethality, and stechkins have a silencer. The old ebow really would have a tiny niche to fill, a more powerful single-shot weapon with a moderate auto-reload time is a more unfilled role in the tater arsenal, it would just need a slightly longer stun and maybe one other perk like higher melee damage to make it worthwhile again.

Re: Ebows
Manually reloading is clearly retarded because hotkeys.
If you REALLY wanted to make it more 'clunky' then put a fire delay on it, like the taser had (and was just removed).

Re: Ebows
Maybe we could look at changing their firing rate. But yes, keeping it as a hotkey-only weapon is unintuitive, unfair, very clearly not working as designed, and traitors need a stun weapon to stand against security.

Re: Ebows
Maybe make it so they give off a bit of noise instead of being completely silent? Nothing really loud mind you but possibly a quiet little "twang" that might be noticed if you're really paying attention and are pretty close by.Steelpoint wrote:We should not be balancing the game around clunky controls, we should return the ebows to the older style of it being a semi-automatic weapon and balance accordingly.

Re: Ebows
I was under the impression they already did that? Unless it was changed together with the reload thing, I haven't used an ebow since.

I've come a long ways from asking how to switch hands.
