Why even take the wizard hardsuit anymore?

Post by Zilenan91 » #124776

The Lich spell does everything the hardsuit was created to do, but better, and it costs the same. I legitimately can't think of a reason you'd take the suit that has slowdown over a spell that infinitely revives you, stops syringes, and makes you space proof.

We could also just nerf lich to only make it so it only revives but that might be too much. If we wanted to buff the hardsuit I guess we could raise the armor values a bit and remove the slowdown?

Can't you just choose skeleton as your race from the mirror?
P.S. Shoot Dr. Allen on sight and dissolve his body in acid. Don't burn it.

Even if you could it would still be inferior to just taking Lich.

Beef up the armor a little! Then it will be viable for battlemages!

Current wizard hardsuit:
armor = list(melee = 40, bullet = 40, laser = 40, energy = 20, bomb = 35, bio = 100, rad = 50)

Proposed:
armor = list(melee = 65, bullet = 60, laser = 50, energy = 50, bomb = 100, bio = 100, rad = 100)

Only real downside to lich besides losing your ensouled object is being non human to the AI/borgs

Honestly this is an issue with Lich being rediculously powerful as opposed to the hardsuit being bad.

I mean really, for the cost of 1 spell you are effectively immortal, since there is an infinite number of ways to make it impossible to find your ensouled item (the only exception being if you summon magic and someone uses a scrying orb to find you the moment you respawn.

It would be nice if the hardsuit was better though

The problem with Wizard is that spells are not scaled in cost to their usefulness, which is a problem with the static 1 point = 1 spell system.

A smoke spell is just as expensive as disintegrate.

If spells had a similar system to traitor TC's and scaled in cost based on power, I think we would see more ability to have spells that are not extreamly powerful but balanced around being cheaper to get. Also it could make upgrading spells viable.

Wizard Hardsuit is good when comboing with a fireball, in addition it offers slightly better protection and syringe immunity and acid immunity, so no one hit kills. Also it makes space a viable escape route.

But Lich does literally all of that and lets you revive.

On the power thing, Xhuis had a PR where wiz spells had a point system of 10, where some costed one, some costed 2, some costed more, etc.

The hardsuit itself is pointless and frankly doesn't offer more than the lich. Giving it more armor either makes it too good or still shit with no inbetween. Having it at just 1 point doesn't really help much since the lichdom is worth more than a point for the reviving and shit.

Reason: On second thought, commentary about the spell scaling is off topic.

The hardsuit offers immunity to fire and space, which is pretty good if you want to meme around with plasmen(but if that's all it's getting used for then, uh, why not just make that a spell or something)

Lich also gives immunity to space. Not to fire though, as far as I know, but fire isn't common enough for that to be a legit upside.

Yeah, even with fireball the issue isn't really getting set on fire so much as getting knocked out for long enough that the crew beats you to death.
