The Point Of The Mining Hardsuit

Post by Steelpoint » #178614

I decided to see what the Mining Hardsuit does to help me in lavaland only to discover its as useless as ever. I was kinda hoping it would offer me resistance to ash storms as a compromise for its slowdown (and losing any goalith plates you put on your normal suit) but it doesn't even do that.

Is the only reason the Mining Hardsuit is even buyable is so Traitor/Rich Miners can buy it to go nuts around the station with a jetpack?

I added it because it's useful in case the station is blown up, or you want to do some space adventures instead of mining.

Using it on lavaland is not advised in the slightest

Except newer miners won't exactly know that, I had to make a wiki entry on it just to tell people its useless for lavaland despite being a mining hardsuit.

So... you added it so miners can fuck off and not do their job, or worse, be powergaming turbonerds while also not doing their job?

If you have 2000 mining points you've done your job.

Kor did mention that he has some cool Lavaland Mining Hardsuit sprites from Ausops ready to go and that he wants to add them in some way.

I do think adding the Mining Hardsuit as a end game Hardsuit you buy to provide you immunity to ash storms would be a good addition.

Perhaps couple that with making the more deeper parts of lavaland more deadly.

In what world is paying for something worse than what you have for free worth it to anyone

The hardsuit should be an upgrade to the envirosuit. Plus resistance, minus speed.

Having deeper parts of lava land be so hostile and deadly that you can't survive without a hardsuit or whatever, would be the most interesting way to do it, tbh.

Not to forget that buying a hardsuit means you lose out on any Goliath plates you've put onto your enviro suit.

Lavaland reminds me of open world games, meaning we should make the deeper parts of it very hostile, or make a second z-level (beyond the gate?) the super hostile area.
