It's ridiculous how much it was nerfed, it really needs to go back to the way it was. In-game, it gives people little goals to do and places to go. You're doing your job, walked around for a bit, you get hungry, you go to the bar, grab a cup ramen, have the bartender fill it water, maybe chat a bit, and walk away. It was this nice little break in every round that I miss.

Chef is clunky, there's about a 30% chance there's a chef adequately supplying the station with food and vending machines have been made crappy. So unless I'm missing something I don't know why you'd want to buff hunger, at least without fixing the aforementioned problems.

Hunger is 80% fluff and 20% gameplay disadvantage. If you SERIOUSLY can't be arsed to go get a burger from the chef you can eat some 4norasins and be good.

Mainly I'd like to be able to eat something without then slowing to a crawl for the entire rest of the round.

Hunger has no place in the game. It's an unnecessary chore and gets in the way of my valid hunting every round. I shouldn't have to interact with other departments, they're usually incompetent anyway.

Really though, there are three departments which can feed you at trivial cost (chef, botany, chemistry; maybe science if they're competent and things get that bad) and there are also vending machines throughout the station. Cargo can order pizzas if everyone else is THAT bad. There's also donk pockets randomly scattered in maintenance. Hunger is an okay game mechanic when it's applicable.

Make being well-fed have a slight speed buff (like 10% better speed) and very slight healing so I don't need to go to medbay for a bumped elbow I got an hour ago. If you're feeling absoloutely mad, make it decrease stun times for the same amount as nicotine, and watch as revs down a bunch of food, fizzy drinks, light up a cig and hit themselves up with their epipen in preperation to down a head of staff.
Players will attend to their hunger more and won't get mad if there's something to gain out of it

the gain is called not being a snail.

This is like complaining that having to breathe is an unneccesary chore, and should give some sort of reward beyond like, not dropping dead.

That's an idea, being in an appropiate pressurised room with a 20% oxygen, 80% nitrogen gives buffs to oxyloss healing

Hunger is a good mechanic for getting people to leave their highly protected individual departmental fortresses to go out and interact with the world.

If the chef cant produce enough food, buffing the food they can produce without extreme effort is fine, the point is to make you leave your department to go to known public areas, not to make you starve, though hunger may be better suited as a damage mechanic that only kicks in if you really dick around for too long rather than a slow mechanic that kicks in quick. Something you don't have to micromanage but something that absolutely prevents you from staying on one tile the entire game.
