Strange Objects should have small chance of starting active
Like 5% or something. Would spice up rounds by letting assistants regularly get crazy stuff from maint.

Go to Science. Ask one of the eggheads to scan it for you, or to let you in. It does not hurt you to ask for help before you consider breaking into a place, only to risk having Sec's baton shoved into your mouth.
