Cannot float diagonally anymore

After a friend told me that they can't float diagonally in any way they tried (extinguisher, throwing an item)
I was curious and tried it out myself. Much to my dismay, he was right!
Is this a side-effect of the gravity tweaking we've done, or what?
Also if this is a bug, I'll put it in the issue tracker. Dunno if it's a bug yet, so that's why I'm posting it here.
