Girls are ugly. Real ugly.
Especially with the advent of greyscaled human sprites. Now they have neckbeards most of the time.
The problem is we have a big ol' bloated pile of clothing based around this sprite.
So my question is;
How do you improve this, without changing it so much that you would have to redo all clothes?

Start by reshaping those saggy sad tits holy wew
They look like the sort of thing you'd hide in a lunch lady bra.
The spessmen torso is a barrel, 100% flat. The female torso essentially fakes having a chest by carving out the stomach on the side sprites and pushing the chest into the arms in the front/back. If you ever saw a real person that looked like this, you'd probably run for your life.
Currently the limitations on reworking the torso without respriting all uniforms/many exosuits are that you can take pixels off the male model for the female model, but not add them. This is comically limiting, and in general isn't enough to solve the problem.
What we'd need is something that "stretches" the clothing so you could also ADD pixels to the male model, but this functionality doesn't exist yet. It's been on my "to do when I'm feeling really confident" list for the better part of three years. Not so much for female sprites as for the fact that we could also use it to return fat sprites.
Ausops already resprited male and female bodies a while ago to look much nicer, but they would indeed require a major clothing resprite, so it's really not feasible without drawing every piece of clothing twice (mainly the legs on the front/back).

The funny thing is that logically, if clothing was "stretching" the deformation would be expected. But yeah you can't just double pixels to fill the void, it needs a more nuanced solution.
[20:26:02]ADMIN: PM: [censored admin]->[censored]: Welp. It was just a prank bro isn't a very good excuse when it comes to unprovoked nonantag murder, but since this is your first time doing it and you seem to understand the problem instead of a bannu I'm just going to leave you with a warning. Please PLEASE don't do this again in the future, as funny as crackhead broken bottle memes can be. Alrighty? Do you have any input on this?
[20:26:39]ADMIN: PM: [censored]->[censored admin]: Alright, no problem. I have some input. Fuck my boy pussy.

this isn't tweaked to fit in with the floor tiles mind
basing mine off the lifeweb sprite, a female body resprite would probably look something like this, slightly narrowed arms, a lot more pixel subtractions, tits lifted a pixel higher, massive changes to the legs, feet made smaller, hands made a pixel less longer
i dont want to even get into the side sprite

Would it be possible to add the framework for it so the clothing sprites could be changed over a (very long) period of time? Maybe have it default to the ones we have now, but use the updated ones as they're added?
Also when did I deny you last time? I probably just told you it'd be a lot of work.
Unless it was fatsprites last time, which we're just against in general.
Would it be possible to make some kind of macro that goes through every jumpsuit sprite for females and moves the same pixels to the same destination space or something? Probably really farfetched but those new body sprites look really fucking good

no it's like wanting your employees to switch from red to green shirts but you're not going to go to the trouble of buying green shirts, you're going to dunk them in green paint and call it a day.

If you want to go do a full remake of all clothing to fit a new female form then I suggest you remove all clothing from the game sans clothing worn by people at round start.
It would at least show you the minimum amount of clothing that would need respriting.
This whole idea is good in theory, but good luck getting one person to sit down for fifty hours to do the work.
With the trend towards 3/4th sprites going the way it is, I think it'd be kind of silly if we resprited all the humans and clothes right now in the soon-to-be-obsolete flat-in-front (there has to be a better term for that) perspective. I think it'd be best if we first made 3/4th humans before trying something as gigantic as a total clothing resprite.
This is actually the kind of thought process that stalls so much of my work. Why resprite all humans/turfs/objects/whatever on soon-to-be obsolete styles/perspectives/color palettes instead of just making the jump?
